I just bought a new 3gen PT145. I have noticed that everytime I have the slide locked to the rear and then I insert a full magazine. The slide automatically pushes forward, without me releasing the slide, alomst everytime. This seems to happen a lot easier when the magazine is full rather when it is empty. But when with no magazine, I can even cause the slide to push forward by slapping the bottom of the grip. I was wondering if anyone has this happening with their PT145? Is this something to really be concerned about?

Until you start having FTF or FTE or bullets nose diving in the mag don't worry about it. Besides that how's the PT145 been treating you?

Thanks for your thoughts. But unfortunately, I have not been able to take it the range yet. I have been really busy with work, but I will let you know.

My EAA witness did the very same thing. The first time I thought that maybe it was a malfunction but it never failed to lock open after last round and I could "gently" insert a full mag and lock it in w/o the slide closing. Never asked anyone about it. I figured that is the natural progression of events when reloading so I never found it to be an issue rather I found it to be kind of a neat function especially when practicing fast mag changes. Makes it "automatic".

Call the mfg and see if it is designed that way.

I've noticed the same thing if I firmly "seat" the magazine by whacking the baseplate with the palm of my hand. I doubt if it's designed that way but who knows? I can't say it's affected reliability in any way. FWIW
