Picked up a new toy today  .. I decided to give Remington a go and got the 870 Marine Magnum. I picked it up for $450 out-the door new and I'm looking forward to getting out to the range. Is there anything I need to know or should do to assist in breaking it in? I've been primarily a pistol owner and this is my first shotgun although I am looking into an 11-87 or another 870 Police here shortly.

I'm hoping to get her out to the range by next weekend at the latest as there is a hurricane in the area this weekend .. :cuss: I'll post a range report once I have something to report.

I always recommend stripping the gun per the owner's manual and checking everything out.

I'd look for anything like a factory defect, factory grit and grim, and other foreign matter.

Give everything a wipe down to remove any dirty factory lube and re-lube with your favorite lube.

The best break-in is to shoot the gun, and keep it clean and lubed.

My roommate has one of those, and they're definitely great guns. We blasted the crap out of a bunch of clays a coupled days ago. Fun stuff.
