I'm a model 70 guy though I plan to use a MRC m1999 action on my next build. Ive been shooting a classic stainless in .30-06 for five years. Ive always read that the remington 700 action supposedly is a better candidate for long range rifles. With that said my model 70 knocks the drawers off my buddies m700 stainless(same cal). I shoot out to 600 yds with ease and am starting to think that the m70 vs. m700 arguement is moot. Basically i'm wondering if it had a m70(CRF) and m700 both are trued and lapped w/good barrels would there be any REAL difference? Id like some real facts instead of opinion if possible:) Thanks

The difference would be small but a push feed bolt that fully supports the cartridge base will have an edge. Hence all benchrest competition rifles being 700 clones. That said, I believe 98% of accuracy comes from the barrel and projectile. There are certainly some very accurate claw feed guns.
