I ordered a new ruger 44 special back in October and got it on Dec 30 and had to call ruger the 31st in order to have it sent back to them for repairs.
When I picked it up I was running late had to hurry and didn't get to examine it closely. This is the 11th ruger product I have had in about 35 years and I have never had one that disappointed me. The finish is coming off the frame just below the loading gate. Actually where the loading gate hits it when open. There is a pretty good nick there, it's as if the gate is out of line or not shaped correctly. Anyway it is gouging the frame. There is also a scratch about 1/2 inch from the end of the barrel on the right side of the front sight. It goes completely though the finish just like the gouge below the gate. Last but not least when the hammer is let down or dropped in dry fire ( I've not yet fired it ) there is still movement in the hammer that is both visible and audible. You can push the hammer forward and it moves and makes a clicking sound. It was unbelievable to me that it could have gotten through quality control. Ruger said they would have ups pick it up Monday.
I enclosed a note describing the problems. Any of you ever experience this with a new Ruger? I never have.
