I wish they would offer this on the Ultra Light with the 20" barrel.

Anyone know if its possible to add a set of ghost rings to the ruger rifle platform? I have never really handled them. If you could do so, and somehow cut it to accept stripper clips, Id buy one.

Xs sights makes a ghost ring that works on the Ruger scope mounts.http://www.aosights.com/photos/219.jpg I wonder if you could machine a dovetail in the front of the forward scope mount to put in a front sight. That way it would be protected under the scope until you removed it to use the backup irons.

Too bad it's a Ruger....

I'm with you on this one, i absolutely love ruger pistols, and my 10/22s (past and present) but frankly Ruger centerfire rifles in general, and the M77 specificly outright SUCK for the amount of money you spend....

then again, i'm a "SavageShooter" and i KNOW what kind of out of the box accuracy a gun can have WITHOUT costing me multiple paychecks.

and YES i'm still steamed that Savage dropped THEIR scout (which IIRC HAD Ghostring sights from the factory)

I have to disagree about the M77mkII

I have found them to be excellent rifles. All of mine, I currently own 4, all shoot well under an inch right out of the box. Besides that they are bull strong, simple, and do not fail in the field. During the best period of my life (when I was suppose to be going to college) I got to work on a cattle ranch in TX. We shot everyday and abused the heck out of our rifles. Of all the different brands we used, the Rugers where the only ones that could take the abuse and still shoot accurately. I will admit that it is not as finely made as some, but the work when those others fail. I have been waiting for a Ruger Scout and will buy the first one I see.

I will post a review as soon as possible.

Best Reguards,

Matt

Whoa! Really!? By any chance, does anyone know how much we are talking about here?

Sounded great, until I saw that the barrel was only 16". Presumably, the barrel is the crucial "scout" portion of this rifle, unless that rib can be slapped on another barrel without too much trouble. What's with these 16" .308's, like this one, and the M1A SOCOM? Isn't that a wee short for a .308? I thought my 19" .30-06 was a little anemic.

MSRP is 800. Whatchy'all think street price will be?

Think that I will be getting one!!!

Would rather have a regular walnut stock then laminate.

I love the Ruger M77 action. I have a Winny M70 myself, and when I got my hands on my bro's m77, I didn't want to let go!

I am thinking the same thing, ghost ring sight, cut for a stripper clip bridge, I really would like a normal walnut stock though!
