Ruger has always MSRP'ed their guns $100-150 over what they actually sell for...but recently it seems like the higher prices are sticking around. I bought my SR1911 for $675 two years ago, but when I was at a gun show last weekend, I saw two of them that were going for $825...$25 OVER Ruger's MSRP of $799!
I talked to a couple guys about this, and they said it's the way it always goes. They also said that back in the day, Kimber's could be had for around $700...but after they made a larger reputation, all bets were off. Not sure if this is true or not, but it seems to make sense.
I wish their new Commander 1911 had a shorter grip frame for CC. I like more rounds, but if they made it only hold 6, it would make the butt MUCH easier to hide. The Bobtail would help, too
