I'm home in Memphis for a short while and went looking for a 1911. I've been eye-balling the G.I. model from Springfield and upon handling it, it was sold. This thing is impeccable, fit and finish is fantastic, it lacks the firing pin safety and comes with the integral lock. I don't like the idea of an integral lock, but this set-up seems to be unimpending and won't affect it's operation. However, it has a pinned small front sight which I thought were milled into the top of the slide on the original military production 1911's. Also the ejection port is cut across the top of the slide where I thought the original military production just had a small oval ejection port cut at around a 45degree angle off the right side of the slide. I'm sure these differences have something to do with easier manufacturing and/or improvements for operation, but nonetheless, all-in-all, it seems to be a pretty good replication of the issue 1911-A1's. I have yet to shoot it, but it does feel great and there is a feeling of power, authority and permeates a sense of pre-political-correctness .
