Gentlemen:

Amid a whole bunch of internet confusion created by my former employer... we've gone public with our done deal with OLN.

The new show is Shooting USA. Much about it will seem familiar to you... certainly the host will be familiar.

Details are posted at the Website if you care to read more about it. http://www.JimScoutten.com

We shooters have some very good friends at OLN. They are very excited about the shows we're doing for them. Just try not to be confused by that old show name.

Regards,

Jim Scoutten

Sure wish I was able to get OLN. Still get TNN, but what good is it anymore? :fire:

Ok dumb question. So does this mean that "American Shooter" is defunct. Or is this an entirely new show in addition to AS?

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to you new shows Mr. Scoutten. I really liked American Shooter and am sorry to hear that you will no longer be the host, but I have seen each episode at least 3 or 5 times it will be good watch a new show. Best of luck to you.

JIM SCOUTEN

Well, here in the Tampa Bay area, our cable provider carries both OLN and the Outdoor Channel. COOL.

Too soon to answer that "in addition to" or "instead of" question and I'm not the guy who will answer it.

The only certain thing that I know is Shooting USA has a signed deal and will appear on OLN starting in June.

And, yes, there is now a better chance Shooting USA may appear on Canadian OLN.

Jim

Excellent!

I'm not sure if it is a coincidence but I noticed some of the features on the new show are exactly what the folks on THR have been asking for. :D

Thanks Jim, we are anxiously awaiting some more great televison!

Awesome

I Love AS but have seen them all alot....even my wife started saying,"didn't you see this one already?"
Looking forward to the new show.....hope it will still have the shot of the week..........
(is it just me or can you actually HEAR Scouten's voice when you read his postings?):p :D

I thought it was just me!

Looking forward to the new show, good luck Jim.

Responding to Jsalcedo: Not having "quote" makes this tougher to do...

Hey! I'm not stupid!;)

This forum may be new, but I've been hearing from many of you for years now at TFL, on other forums, and by e-mail.

And I want to keep on hearing (well, OK, "reading") the ideas you have for stories, segments, and more.

Years back, Televison was a one way medium... we'd make it and push it out there and hope you dogs would eat the dogfood.

But beginning in the earliest days of the internet (Just after Al invented it), I had a comments chat forum for AS in Compuserve. (Anybody remember Coupuserve?) And from that moment on, if we mixed the dog food incorrectly... the dogs would spit it back!

Aside from the feedback being really fun. (I tend to have my notebook logged in a waiting to see what the comments are as soon as the Saturday show ends) The real benefit in the two-way communication is: we know immediately if we got the facts wrong, or otherwise screwed up. And we also know when something we've produced pleased you guys.

So that's why much of what you are reading about the new show is what you've been asking for... because I'm always listening... and then checking the idea against the travel budget to see if we can do it.

Keep it coming,

Jim Scoutten

For: Tony B and Jeff

Now you know for sure, who writes the stuff I say.

The broadcast journalism explanation that I've always preferred is... we only write because we can't remember all that we want to say.

So everything you hear in AS and will hear in Shooting USA, is written first... to get the words right... and (wonder of wonders) to get the FACTS right.

But the writing has to be for SPEAKING, not for reading. So you'll notice in my posts, the punctuation is kind of home-made. I use triple dots a lot to run sentence fragments together... which would flunk me in English class... but that's how people talk: No periods... no capitol letters... we string thoughts together to communicate.

So it is a great compliment that you can HEAR me in the writing on the forum.

The problem is, I have a heck of a time writing a letter. :banghead:

Looks real good I'll watch for it.

Question through, One of my favorite parts was watching Bob Mundon do his thing. (I loved the 200 yard shot with a S&W J frame 38) I see no mention of him being on the new show. Any chance of him showing up later?

Shoot safely and...

I'm going to lobby my cable provider to start to carrying OLN!

Jim, my oldest daughter and I used to love watching you on "American Shooter" in the ESPN and TNN days...she very quickly picked up on your closing, "Shoot safely and keep 'em in the 10-ring" hahahaha...she went around saying that to EVERYBODY!

Yeah, yeah, so we've seen the reruns so many times we know all of the words...

...but do you crank the volume way up and wear your electronic muffs while you watch for added realism? :D

(BTW, congratulations on the new show.)

John

Jim Scoutten,
I'm glad to hear of the move, and even happier that I actually get OLN here in New Orleans. Watching you on AS was one of the reasons that I always had an interest in firearms. I grew up in a family that was not against firearms, but not enthusiasts. If it weren't for you and your show I probably would have never had any "real" exposure to firearms except for all the fiction on tv and in movies. Thanks in helping me stay in the world of firearms until I could actually make a purchase of a firearm and get into it for myself. I wish you lots of luck on the new show and can't wait to see it in June.
