Ok, so I promised in the thread I made the other day about my new SKS, that I'd post pics. I finally was able to take a few, and I figured I'd put them here rather than add them to the first post to cut down on confusion and possibility of me posting them wrong, heh.

So, here they are. One of the gun, one of me and the gun, and one of my lovely fiancee and the gun. Please excuse the expression I have on my face in the pic I'm in - I don't pose for pics well. I either look retarded, or like I'm about to murder kittens. Either way, it's not pretty. :p

So, on to the pics -

It's not spotless, but it is a definite improvement over some I've seen

Thanks for the the tips ya'll provided on my earlier post - they helped out a lot! I'm sure I'll be posting more dumb questions soon, but for now I'm good to go!
 
Looks like it's brand new! It will be one of your favorite rifles (if not THE favorite) soon!

Was it full of cosmoline? I bought mine back in 2002 and it looked like it had been submerged in a vat of the nasty stuff. It took me DAYS to get most of it off and it's still oozing out of the stock! Hey, at least it was "well-preserved!"
 
Grant - Thanks! No fun, it barely has a spot on it. I haven't field stripped it yet, so who knows what the inside looks like. But - I've worked the bolt a few times so far, and it's bright and shiny, and not gunked up. Woohoo!

Nwilliams - Thanks, I hope it stays with me for a long, long time.

Rde - Thanks, I definetly agree.

Mojo - Unissued, virtually cosmoline-free. I know they're not the best pictures as far as up-close detail goes, but that's exactly how I got it. The stock is dry (the wood is a little rough, as if it was cleaned previously and they used something harsh that raised the grain a bit) and there is a very, very light film on some areas near crevices and whatnot - but other than that, she's spotless. As I said before, I still haven't gotten to the internals yet (hopefully that'll get done today) but I've cycled the bolt numerous times and it's clean and shiny, no gunk to be found. Nice shiny bore, too, minus a few dusties. Maybe I got lucky, huh?
 
Like the pic of the lady & the rifle..........they go well together. ;)

That bayonet looks MINT and the wood is sweet too. Thanks for posting pics and you're welcome to post more.......

Haha, yea. She's fairly new to guns in general, and has yet to fire a rifle. I see that changing in short order, however. :D

It seems I'm very lucky - there's a noticeable lack of cosmoline on this particular rifle. I was asking the guy who was selling them if he de-gooified them before the show, and he said that the last batch that he got before those was packed solid with the stuff, but the batch that the ones he had for sale right there came from were pretty near clean. I'm going to go over most of the parts anyhow (especially the bolt) to be sure - but most of the work has definetly been done for me.
 
Grant - That sucks. I know it's sort of a "rite of passage" though, and I wouldn't necessarily mind doing it. I hear it's one of those things that "build character" like my dad likes to say. :D

Here's a totally stupid question - what caliber brass brush do I need? I was going to pick one up earlier, and I realized that I didn't know the size to get.

Kingpin, you do realize that this rifle will cease to be YOURS shortly, don't you?

She'll love it, very light recoil and LOTS of "fun quotient!"
 
Just thought to mention, if your sights need adjustment, be sure to get a sight tool that states it will work with a Yugo. The front sight blade on Yugos is slightly wider than the Chinese and Russians and therefore the tools for those don't fit.

About the sights - I'll keep that in mind. I just gotta get the money for some ammo first! Between buying the rifle, food, bills and my mom's birthday, I'm darn near tapped for this month, heh.
