I saw on Springfields web site that they have come out with a new gun called the XDm 3.8 that is geared towards ccw. Its an xdm that they have shortened the barrel of to help it be more concealable. I wonder though why they did not shorten the grip. The grip is 5.6 inches tall, that is pretty big to ccw. Now I know that there will be people who say well with the right belt and holster blah blah blah it can be ccw. I agree, but it seems like it they really wanted to market it as ccw they would have had something more along the lines of 5" for the grip.

yep, i've seen the specs on this one too. seems like a completely worthless change to the design. the hardest part to conceal is the handle, which is already too long on the XDM. they should have shortened the barrel & the handle.

this is the first that i have heard about this, thanks for sharing. i hate it when gun companies make the barrel length shorter, for me and most people it doesn't do very much when the barrel end is shortened, as opposed to the grip end. that is the part that is hard to conceal, especially on the xdm's.

Ditto on the grip length being too long for ccw, If it was really designed for concealment it would be more snag free, the XDs have too many grooves graphics etc to be used for certain types of concealment. Springfield, if you want to make a good ccw version of the XD then make a single stack version, dehorned for carry.
