On the Savage site,I saw they are bringing out a Stevens model 200 bolt action.Has anybody seen one yet?It kinda looks like they are trying to compete with the Mossberg 100.

Looks very much like the Mossberg ATR-100, but kind of hard to tell from just the website. MSRP of $316 vs. Mossberg $244 now on the shelf at your local Wal-Mart....hmm. The specs/features are quite similar.

Although the Mossy [right now] is only in .270 & .30-06, and already has the "Weaver" scope bases installed. From what I could tell, the Stevens/Savage does not have the scope bases...{drilled & tapped, web page says}

I called Savage a couple of days ago and they said the rifles are in production now and will be going out to dealers in a month.

Rumor is that the rifles are Savage 110's without an Accu-Trigger. (Or that's what they're saying on www.savageshooters.com)

If that's true, they're a pretty good bargain.

Now if only they'd make left-handed versions...
