i have a home made bolt action .243 with a heavy bull barrel with an old beat up wooden stock that i would like to have switched out with a newer synthetic stock how would i go about doing this?

Is there any special measurements that i have to take into effect or would i be able to just drop it into any old stock?

Any recomendations on the new stock?

Nearly every make and model or rifle fits in a different stock. You can't just buy any stock and throw yours in it.

You'd probably be best off getting an un-inletted laminate or wood stock and inletting it yourself, or get one to fit the action and enlarge the barrel channel.

Hmmm...

Now the wrinkle here is, there are a few variants of Mauser actions, too.

Can you find any marks on it? You may need to take some measurements.

If you can get enough info off the action, Boyd's probably has a stock that would require only a little work to make it fit.
