Purchased the a Weatherby Vanguard in November, .30-06, and finally got it out to the range last week. I didn't get to measure groups officially, but they were well under the 1.5" guarantee that Weatherby makes.
Now it is time to get the rifle set up the way that I want it.
Step one is a new scope - and I am working on that at the moment.
Step two is a new stock. This rifle deserves something better than the junky stock that comes with it.
I see a few options.
#1. Fiberguard stock from Weatherby. Looks to be a better stock, and it is pillar bedded, and I think the available colors are pretty nice. I would prefer not to spend that much though, since money is tight, and I still need to buy a scope.
#2. HOGUE Overmolded. This is also pillar bedded, but wouldn't look quite as nice, and I don't know how the quality is.
#3. Boyd Thumbhole sporter. I really, really like this one, but it means I have to either do the bedding myself, or get a smith to do it, and that means more $$$.
What do you think?
