After consulting this forum weeks ago I got myself an excellent condition Colt Officer's Model Target in 22LR built in 1930. It is a beautiful gun in amazing condition. It si mechanically perfect, it must not have been used much. I took it appart and cleaned out all the old oil that had turned into varnish. I took it out yesterday and put 100 rounds through it. The gun is more accurate than I am and a hoot to shoot. I am attaching the pictures from the auction itself, they are higher quality than anything I could take. To make things more fun, I bought a reprint of a 1930 Colt catalogue so I can have that with it. I will get the gun lettered next year. OMT1.jpg OMT2.jpg OMT3.jpg

Nice! Enjoy that one, it's a throwback to the era of well-made, handcrafted, Colt perfection. (long before Glock thought of using the word.)

That's a pure, classic .22 target revolver you've got there my friend! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Another 80 rounds today. What a joy to shoot. Single action is very light, but I am also amazed at how nice the double action is. I can feel everything I read about the extra work that went into these vs the service revolvers.

The pre-WWII Colt Officers Model revolvers were amazing guns! Your .22 is a beauty, congratulations.

My oldie is a .38 Spl Officers Model Heavy Barrel that was worked on by Kings back before the War. I haven’t ever felt a SA trigger pull like mine has, it is truly amazing what those craftsmen could do to tune these guns.:)

The post-war Match models may have better sights and grips, but surrender something in the looks department to the the pre-war OM.

Congrats!

Also Colt decided at some time that the OMM did not need the attention focused on double action any longer and cut production cost at the cost of double action. My shooting buddy has a pre-WWII S&W .22, I think it was called Outdoorsman at the time, that has a substantially better double action than my 1952 vintage K-22 and that K-22 is smoother than the model17s that passed through my hands - about a dozen so far this year.

Stay safe.

I absolutely agree. I also notice an Ace trigger shoe. In my opinion a wider trigger gives a very different trigger feel in single action. Sadly Ace got out of business after a frivolous law suit.

It’s my one and only gun with a shoe, it makes the trigger feel amazing.

Stay safe.
