Got this email response from Calvin regarding new turret press under development:

Hello John,
Happy New Year!
Yes, that is correct. The new turret press will be a 5 hole turret press with the ability to purchase turrets in a 3,4,5 or 6 configuration. The 3 and 6 hole will be the same turret with two different index rods. This press is by far the most advanced turret press on the market and we are looking forward to getting finished up here very shortly.

I always swore that I didn't see a need for a turret press, since I was loading on a Hornady LNL progressive with easily switched dies, The turret that I learned to reload on only had 4 stations...plus I wasn't loading rifle cartridges.

But I'm intrigued by this development. It might come in handy for developing loads or loading cartridges that I don't shoot much...like .44Spl/Mag or .41Mag.; maybe even 6.5x55mm or 7mm-08. I have a single stage, but i like the idea of having all my dies set up...I've even considered getting a Dillon 550 for this.

I really like the new directions I see Lee heading with their new introductions

Wow!!!!!!!

I really like being able to replace a turret and be ready to go, I store extra turrets in "plastic nut containers" with an oiled brown paper sheet so I can switch calipers quickly. I keep decapping and case prep dies on 3-hole press turrets so I can keep my 4-hole clean. I probably have about 2 dozen different turrets ready to go and another 6 or 8 still in the box ready for another new caliber gun:) I am invested in my Lee 3 & 4 hole turret presses so would not be a prospect for this new press, but I might be looking at one of their progressive presses.

While I have used a turret press a time or two, I have a Dillon 550 for this reason. Sometimes I do the sizing and priming before hand, and do the powder, bullet seating, and crimp on the 550.

My Lyman 8 or 7 (so many holes) is hard to beat! except the priming system 🤮

but I would love to see a Rock Chucker size Turret press.

I own many presses but find myself using the RCBS turret press almost exclusively. It's been my good fortune to run across about a half dozen extra turret heads, so it's nice to keep multiple calibers set up for a quick changeout.

That is great to hear I have 2 Lee turret presses a LCT and a 29 year old Red Base Aluminum that is literally on its last leg I was going to get the new Steel Value one but now I am going to wait and see what this one looks like.

Turret presses are hard to beat. It will be interesting to see Lee's new take on it.

My Redding T7 makes it nice for more of my precision reloading as I can leave my dies set up with a few extra turret heads one for each specific cartridge.

Might be great for you younger guys, but for me and my 74 year old body, I'm not about to exchange my progressive presses for a press that takes four or five or six or even seven strokes to do what one stroke does in a progressive, depending of course on how many stations the progressive has.

I might can understand that a turret offers speed over a single stage, or that it "may" produce more accurate ammo than some progressives, but I've never heard of a benchrest fanatic being interested in anything other than a dirt slow arbor press.

For what I want to reload, progressives, still are king....and Lee's Pro 6000 is a good cheap one to start with.

Oh I agree with you, that's why I have a Dillon XL750 as well.

For me these are different tools for different jobs. The turrets are faster and save time over a single stage, without the expense of a progressive. Much better suited to small batches and load development. My progressives are purely for high volume shooting.

Well I’m certainly a fan of the LCT press. There’s a couple cartridges that I’ve want a fifth position but 4 mostly will do it for me.
Having the dies permanently set up is a huge plus. Another big plus is the turrets cost $10 plus or minus a buck. I couldn’t afford $50 to $80 per turret.

I’ll have 21 calibers set up when I’m done. I’m setting up a second Small reloading room in a winter location and the plan is have a second Lee Classic press and mail down half a dozen turrets of calibers per set up and not have to buy dies twice.
For the couple cartridges I need a fifth station I was going to deprime and prime on a single stage Redding first.
I would love a 5 station like the LCT press but I’m pretty invested in the 4 station.

I observe every powder charge, so don't need a powder cop. What other die(s) is used on the fifth or sixth turret hole?
It would be nice to have an extra hole for a powder check die

I resemble that remark.
I really like my LCT, and use it a lot. No sure I have a use for more than 4 dies on it, but this is interesting. Can't wait to see it tested and running.

For me a progressive press is much like a new house. The more room you have the more you'll fill it up with.

For 9mm, I have my stations set in the following order:
1. Universal Deprimer
2. Swage primer pocket
3. Size and Prime
4. Expand
5. Powder Measure
6. Powder Check
7. Bullet Drop
8. Seating
9. Crimp

For .45ACP (SPP)
1. Size and Deprime
2. Prime, Drop Powder, and Expand
3. Powder Check
4. Bullet Drop
5. Seat
6. Crimp
