I received an email from Walther about their new PD 380 pistol yesterday. It appears to be a pretty nice offering. If any one has an interest in the 380 platform you might take a look.

It appears to be a warmed-up PK380 with PDP-like slide serrations. The safety is still backwards, capacity is tiny, no optics, and it continues to use the paddles that are only the 2nd worst implementation ahead of Beretta Pico. So essentially no design changes. Hopefully they tightened up the quality.

P.S. Did you see the video where Walther's marketing squirms like a snake in a frying pan in order to avoiding saying the G-word:

P.P.S. They managed to cram 9 rounds in. That's almost there, although of course the butt is longer than that of the Ruger LCP MAX. The magazines in videos are indistinguishable from the old ones. I wish Glock did a G42X like that: do not invent a whole new magazine type, but extend the grip to the size of PD380.

"Industry standard sights". I looked at it, didn't see a dovetail at the muzzle end of the slide, and thought "Glock compatible".

(I've seen a few different guns using Sig compatible dovetails.)

Does Walther not have product manuals on their web site? I poked around their site, trying to figure out if this was a locked breech or straight blowback gun . I only figured it out by seeing a review in one of the print mags.

So the PK380 got a facelift and new name, which should keep Walther fans happy for another 14 years. Specifically it got:
- PDP texturing on the grip
- steel sights (presumably with a Glock cut)
- a different slide profile
- front cocking serrations
- a torx screw for the manual safety rather than a straight slotted screw, and
- capacity boosted from 8 to 9 rounds

I was expecting the PK380 to be completely phased out by now, with the CCP 380 taking its place. This new iteration is a surprise.

I guess they are seeing something in sales numbers from the other companies that have recently made a 9mm size .380 pistol . The only reason it would appeal to me if it were smaller than any 9mm made .
