any examples of what is or is not a sissy-merry gun? I shoot a beretta 96 and a Springfield 1911A1. Thanks.

I droped 100 rounds of the new .45 yesterday . 1st round failed to feed all the way . It is cold , and the gun is dirty , and I rode the slide a bit . The rest were fine .
It still stinks to hih heavon , and it seems to be even dirtier than before .

"If you dont shoot sissy-merry guns Wolf is fine lacquer or not.If you do shoot sissy-merry guns you better play it safe and use brass."

tropicalz, what is a ssisy-merry gun?

You have heard the expression: When the going gets tough, the tough get going ?
This applies to firearms also. Any gun will run on premium ammo made in a laboratory clean room and blessed by the pope. What seperates the men from the boys are the workhorses that thrive on stuff like Wolf Ammo. We have heard the excuses: it is dirty, it smells bad, it is coated in laquer, the cases are steel. But, excuses are like elbows. Instead of giving me excuses, my AR15s, 1911s, Browning Hi-Powers, Remington 870s are yelling, THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER ! THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER ! HOO AH

Sorry, I couldn't resist stirring the pot.

I use it in 7.62x39 with no problems. My buddy uses it in .223 with no problems, but I stick to brass cased .223.

In handgun chamberings, I get everything I need in WWB from walmart, and prefer that for about the same price.

I subscribe to the "commie ammo for commie guns" school of thought.

Another thing I've heard is that the 7.62x39 is true commie mil-spec... anyone have any idea if this is true?

Guns on Wolf

Sissy-Merry guns? Guns that won't run on Wolf?

Well, none of mine are sissy-merries...whatever that means...and they'll
all run on the stuff. I just won't USE it. A Testarosa will crank up and run
on bargain-brand regular rat-pi$$ gasoline, too...but most Ferrari owners
that I know won't use it in their cars, or even in their pickup trucks, for that matter.

Ya plunks down yer green and ya makes yer choices...

Cheers!

Wolf .22 shoots amazing groups outta my 22/45 and 10/22. Amazing. Ain't broke, won't fix it.

I've also had good accuracy w/ Wolf 7.62x54 outta my M39. Again, not gonna fix.

SKS feeds all Wolf 7.62x39 I've ever fed it, but accuracy was so-so. Better results w/ American Eagle, so Wolf is for plinking, AE is for target shooting.

I'm with the Commie ammo for Commie guns rule of thumb (the German-made Wolf .22 being a pleasant exception).

So a gun that doesn't like wolf ammo is a sissy gun! Well then I suppose you won't mind being shot with one__

I shot a Wolf .223 round in my T/C Contender. The case stuck and was a BIT** to get out . Never again. Commie ammo for Commie guns (AK's, CZ's, etc),brass for everything else. YMMV.

To be fair, are you claimimg that Federal, Winchester, CCI/Speer, Remington, etc. have never had bad lots of ammo?

I've had several duds with Wolf and none with Federal, Winchester, etc. but I'd wager cost has a lot to do with it and the simple fact that I've shot much more Wolf than the other brands because of cost!

It certaily would be helpful if there was a central clearinghouse of bad ammo lot numbers from all the manufacturers.

I do appreciate the link as I'll check if I have any Wolf from the affected lots and exchange it if I do.

If you don't want Wolf (~$120 per case of 1000) You might want to try Armscor about $155 per case of 1000. So far it seems pretty good, the brass is reloadable at least twice :)

Speaking of bad ammo:
As I mentioned, I have fired many thousands of rounds of Wolf through my AR15s. Easily in excess of 8 thousand rounds. I have never had the slightest problem.
When I took the Gunsite Basic Carbine class I found out what kind of ammo they sold at Gunsite and took that brand of ammo with me for the course. My thinking was that after reading threads like this, I know that logic and experience wouldn't matter: If I had a any kind of gun problem, it would be dismissed out of hand as an ammo issue if I was using Wolf. So I figured that if I was using the same ammo as they sell, I couldn't go wrong.
This resulted in my only stoppage I ever encountered in one of my AR15s. I was using PMC ammo. I had a failure to fire. I ran the malfunction drill. The bullet sperated from the case inside the gun and spilled unburnt powder all over the inside of my action. I had trouble until lunch time when I could clean the gun.
Obviously, my luck with ammo has been pretty darn good. One bad round of .223/5.56mm ammo in a decent sized sample. That one round however rendered my weapon totally unreliable until it could be cleaned. Nothing like that ever happened when I was using Wolf.
