I was asked over at the Calguns site if the NYD shoot was on so I guess it's time to post...

I had actaully decided to not plan our traditional NYD shoot... Been a really rough year for me and this month was/is especially hard... Moved my oldest (20 yr old) daughter to AZ at the beginning of the month and have been in a rather deep funk since getting back...

Something lifted the funk this morning and like I said in answer to the above mentioned post... I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be then out in the great wide open shooting with friends already met and hopefully friends we've yet to meet...

So there ya have it.. It's on folks... Lets spend the first day of the new year having a literal blast...

Same as always, you are welcome to meet at the spot or you are welcome to meet at the house. Email me for any info that you may need...

Hope you have fun! Sorry I can't be there, but be safe, and shoot a lot.

As for a getting yourself (in the spirit) so to speak, nothing like emptying a magazine into something in the desert to liven up the spirit.

Shoot safe, shoot often, shoot lots and lots of ammo.

I'll be there, and I'm going to bring some of my family too! :D

So are we going to the "normal" spot, or the small spot we had to use when we got kicked off?

Thanks for the well wishes TB and Carlos, I am fine now and can't wait for this weekend...

Kev. - Very cool that you're bringin out some family.. As far as the spot, we have been back since the birthday shoot and only the one area is off limits (posted) the rest of the area is still open to use so we'll go there first and check it out. If there are already too many people there then yes we will go to the spot we ended up at.. Either way it will be fun...

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Mauserlady. Beetle Bailey's been bugging me about the NYD shoot for about a week now. Could you give us directions from LA to the site again? Also, what time will the festivities begin?

TIA

Got your email this morning Bam but got a little to into my quest on Diablo II and I forgot to answer you... Sorry...

The plan is to be there around 9:00am so we can hopefully get the "good spot" I'll email you the directions out there and to the house tonight when I get home...

Glad to hear you're probably gonna make it Shawn...

Well... Ya know how the RR treats me.

To top it all off, I might be getting a promo...... which means that I'll have to work more but it will hopefully be worth it in the long run. People will no longer be safe at RR x-ings, just hope they smile as they go under.:neener:

Anyone that's planning on coming out should dress warm...

New Years Day
Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 40s to lower 50s.

And I'm here to tell ya, it's cold up here today with a current temp of 43...

I'm gonna miss yet another shoot. Damn I gotta try to make it to one :(

Have a fun and safe trip out. I'm sure I'll see great pics of the event.

I'm gonna go party in Vegas for New Years! :D

Camera's all ready with 3.5 rolls of film...

Is it tomorrow yet? :D

Sorry I can't come... maybe if I had seen this thread earlier.:( Tell me the next time you have a shoot out that way, My mom loves it out there, and would be more than willing to drive me when she's not working.

Sorry, I haven't been online in a while (technical difficulties) but I will be there :D. As I type, I'm trying to finish that last gallon of milk so I can have one more target to shoot tomorrow

Camera, eh? I'm bringing my Swedish Mauser and Yugo SKS again, plus one other rifle but I haven't decided, yet. Either my Enfield or one of the Mosin Nagants.

Combat - either email me or PM me if you want me to put you on the email list... The ONLY time that particular list gets used is when there's going to be an upcoming shoot so there's no need to worry about all of a sudden getting spammed with crap....

Beetle - Now you must know me better than that by now.. Besides the camera there are plenty of things coming along that go boom... :D

Boy, was that cold, or what? That wind was plain unforgiving. Made it hard to shoot, too.

Glad to report my No. 4 Mk. II and FN-49 (aside from two initial FTE's from too much CLP on extractor claw) performed without a hitch in our mini-M.O.A.S.S. Both withstood nasal drip admirably well also.

It was good to see Damnathius and Mauserlady again, even better to meet Kevlarman (and friends) and 50 Shooter. We just have to pick a day when God's not so grumpy next time out.

Happy New Year, folks. ;) :)

Yeah it was cold but still had a good time, nice to meet you guys. Thanks for letting me try out your Enfield and Mauser, hope you liked the .50.

Weather is hard to call until about May, it's usually cold and breezy until then. Hopefully the next shoot won't be so cold.

Cold and windy, but at least on the bright side, now I know what it feels like to shoot under those conditions  . And yes, I definately enjoyed the .50 :D . The best part was having you as my spotter telling me exactly where to aim so all I had to do was pull the 2lb. trigger and listen for the ringing of the steel target ;) . Glad you liked the Enfield and the Swedish Mauser.

Kevlarman: where did you get that Czech VZ-24 Mauser? I kinda didn't want to get an 8mm Mauser but that ammo is so cheap it seems like a crime not to take advantage of it  .

Mauserlady and Damnathius: Thanks again for setting this up, even with the cold weather I was still able to have a bit of an enjoyable time. Heck, any time I get good hits with my rifles and meet new people, it can't be a bad day :D .

Woo boy, the weather wasn't very nice to us, but it sure was fun meeting up with ya'll! Thanks to 50 Shooter for letting me try that .50BMG, Beetle for letting me try the Enfield and CZ Kadet, and Bam for letting me try his FN49! And of course, Mauserlady and co. for setting this whole shinding up!

8mm is very very cheap; check out these:

It was fun taking pot shots at the bowling pin and water jugs to see who could hit them first.

Beetle - I got the VZ-24 at my local Big-5 sporting goods store. I think it was like $70 or so, before taxes and all those fees. The cool thing is that the clerk let me go through all the rifles they had to pick up the one that looked the best. I recommend bringing a bore light with you to the store.
