I have a 2011 or 2012 Savage MKII BV. This is similar to a 93. It has a beautiful and good feeling laminate stock and a heavy barrel. It has a BSA Sweet 22 scope. The rifle is very accurate. The problem is it is heavy. The heavy barrel seems to be the culprit as the gun is very front heavy without the scope on it. I use this gun for plinking and target shooting. Not to sound girlie, but none of my girlfriends (nor me) likes to shoot this compared to my Ruger 10/22 or even my Marlin 1894C b/c the MKII BV is heavy.
Are there ways to trim the fat on this long gun? Can I swap the heavy barrel out for a standard? Or should I just sell this gun, take the loss and get one more suitable?
