New York hunters

2 guns I picked up recently, mossberg bolt action 20ga and a marlin A-1DL 22 auto loader. Probably use the 20 for rabbit and Turkey, the 22 should shoot good little heavy for hunting be a nice range gun tho.

Need to find a mag for the 20ga, there around for about $40, like to find a nice military sling for the 22 since its kinda a trainer/ target gun.

It's always nice to pick up something new. I like both of them. The Walmart out here has been stocked up with 325 packs of Federal 22lr ammo.
Haven't seen any 20 gauge in a long time.
Lots of 28 gauge and some 12 gauge.

Bert I picked up fifty pounds of range brass yesterday. I have a little over 100 pieces of 30/06 if you need more of it.

Will pm on brass. Thank you

Today I stopped over to a friend's place and we bought airline tickets for the upcoming 2022 deer season.
He is bringing his long time girlfriend and avid hunting partner. We will arrive in Syracuse on Tuesday the 15th, we will head up to Old Forge/Inlet when we arrive.
My brother Jim will be picking us up at the airport. We will spent two nights up in Old Forge and head back to Harpursville mid-day Thursday. Hit the Greene Rod & Gun Club on Friday to sight in the rifles and hot the world early on Saturday the opener.
This will.be a fun trip. Been waiting a couple of years for my buddy Ed to commit to hunting with me back there in New York.
He has been deer hunting in South Carolina for a long time.

Everyones seen it all ready but this Argentine will make a nice deer rifle, should be nice in thick cover it has a express type Williams rear sight and a nice sight picture. Gun is just over 40" and 6 -7 pounds. The 7.65x53 mauser is very close to the 308 win, a bit longer and holds more powder, but had lower pressure making them pretty close.

I may shoot it tomorrow, going over my buddy's to put a engine in his skid steer. So I may have a chance to fire it some.

What are you going to be hunting

We will hunting deer and trapping for fox & coyotes.
Last year we caught three red fox and two fishers. Would like to get a couple of bobcats gray fox and some coyotes to Ann to the collection.
We should harvest a few deer. Ed and his other half wants to take back as much deer meat as they can. First deer harvested will be going to Shaff's butcher shop to get venison sticks and pickled sausage made up. It won't take long to get one all deboned and cubed up for them to process.

Ed & his other half are from Washington State as well. He has been going to South Carolina to go deer hunting with a friend of his from his work that moved here from South Carolina.
They don't get that many deer where they hunt in South Carolina, that should all change this coming deer season.
Looking forward to this year's deer season.

Jim bought two Boy Scout raffle tickets, one for him & one for me. They had their drawing today and called me and told me I won a 22lr Rifle.
Not sure what it is yet, I'll find out tomorrow when I call the gun shop up in Whitney Point.

The Camden Rod & Gun Club raffle starts up tomorrow. For $25 you get a three digit number for the whole month of June.
If the daily New Your Lottery draws your three numbers you win what ever happens to be the prize for the day.
I hit it two years ago and Jim's landlord hit it the year before.
They didn't have it last year due to the covid BS.
So I'll be checking the New York daily numbers every day for the month of June.

My Beaman k5 surprises me sometimes. I really don't have to worry about houses near me I do r shoot in those directions plus they're pretty far away except for one.

My first pellet gun, a Crossman 1377 disappeared out of my attic about 2 years ago. Pretty sure it went up someone, who shall remain nameles's, nose.

I have a mildly hotroded 1322 I need to fix and get shooting. It was shooting the heavy 22 pellets at 550-600 fps.

I have an older Gamo 177 caliber rifle, it's killed a bunch of back yard varmits.
It has to be around 10 maybe 12 years old. About time for a new one. It will go through a inch & a quarter piece of hardwood.
I was looking at the PCP airguns. For the gun, tank & compressor they are around $1,200 for a 24 caliber.
With the cost of primers & powder it would be a cheap gun to shoot and I could legaly shoot it in our back yard.
That will be a while though, I had surgery yesterday and am sore as all get up today. I will be off work atleast two weeks.

I need to get looking for tickets to bring Mason back for the end of October - first week of November.
I have bought a few reloading items over the last week. Being laid up really sucks.
Don't forget the 2022 deer licenses come out August 1st. Get your money set aside for the license & doe tags.

I'm in the process of getting reloading supplies as well, tools first, just ordered 3 die sets from midway for less than 75 dollars. Mostly new calibers. Had to reace my misplaced 223 die set, got 2k of empty brass to load up.

You're right being laid up sucks, it'll get better though.

When I get the shed all remodeled and set up I need to go through all of the dies sets and get rid of the extras and buy what I think. I might need.
One of these days I have to go through all of the dies and get all of the missing or damaged parts ordered.
From now on I'll only be useing small base dies for 223. One of the new ARs will not cycle full length sized cases. They jam up.
So all of the older 223 ammo will go through the H&R Handi-Rifle.
I know I have a few sets missing stems, or parts of stems.
Maybe this week I'll be able to work on this.
