New York hunters

There was a lot of dead road kill while we were there for two weeks.
Just down the road from Jim's place two does were hit and killed with in a couple of days .
We seen a lot of road killed skunks, gray fox and raccoons.
We had two near hits with deer while out and about.

Tuesday we will be back in New York to get ready for the opener on Saturday the 19th
We rented a actual basic hunting camp on a couple acre lot nestled in over a 1,000 acres of decent hardwoods state land.

We will have an electric generator to run lights, a smoker grill. For heat we will have a couple of propane heaters.
There is an old hand dug well on the property but we will be hauling fresh water in to use.
They do have a plastic out house there.

We will probably have Thanksgiving dinner at the cabin.
Troy if you father is feeling up to coming up on Friday the 25th to go hunting we will all meet at the camp afterwards for food , drinks and a card game.
Bert if you are off on the 25th plan on jumping in for the day. If the three of you can make it on the 25th we should do good on a few deer drives with seven of us.
The 24th ( Thanksgiving day)would be another option for hunting.
My friend and his other half will heading back to Washington state the Tuesday after the weekend of the 25th.
My brother picked up a big truck rim and a load of slabwood for an outside fire. We will also pick up a trailer or two loads of firewood to cut up before deer season opens up.
Thos should be fun time to get together.
If any of you other New York hunters want to come on down chime on in and we'll go over details.

Here is a picture of the inside of the cabin
I'll have my brother take a few more pictures that I can post.

When we were back there a couple of weeks ago I get a tick in the low back area. I think I may have contacted lyme desiese.
The bite spot has a larger rash area. It's been almost three weeks since the tick.

The first picture is with a dime at the te of the tick

The second picture is with a quarter three weeks afterwards

It doesn't itch or anything.

Has any one else on here had lyme deciese

Get checked out, my dad has had it even had some kind of lime so rare there were only a few cases in the U.S. I can't remember the tick repellent I've heard is very good, Wal-Mart has it but the last many times I've went I didn't see the stuff.

Permethrin is the one that works pretty good but you have to spray your clothes with it and let it dry before wearing them. It is supposed to last through 2 or 3 washings. You can find it in many sporting goods sections in stores or on Amazon. I think Sawyer's makes it.

Do not spray it on your body.

Ya that's the stuff I was thinking of.

We were delayed in Chicago yesterday afternoon and when we arrived in Syracuse it was snowing.
Right before our exit off of route 81 a Toyota SUV bit the big one and rolled over causing a huge delay in getting to the hunting camp then on to my brother's place.
But it all worked out with no major problems.
Today we will hit the gun range to sight in the deer rifles and get stuff together and then go back to the cabin and enjoy some suds and play cards after we muster up some firewood.
Looking forward to this hunting trip.
It's been a long awaiting goal.
I'll do a write up and post pictures later today.

Three weeks??!! Please don’t take this the wrong way, but what are you waiting for? Lyme is not something to play around with, you need to start a course of antibiotics immediately.

I had the bullseye 3 times when I lived in Westchester Co. NY near CT, the epicenter. Each time I was told the faster you start antibiotics, the lesser the chance for long term disability. You need to get going, nothing is more important than your health.

I swear by Permethrin. Comes in a big yellow plastic bottle. For clothes only, not skin.

I called my doctor and t
I can not get in until December 22
If you have not done so, got to Urgent care ASAP. Lyme is treatable if they can catch it quickly enough.

People, it might be an over reaction but I would suggest getting to the urgent care within 24-36 of developing a rash. They will put you on antibiotics whether they can confirm its Lyme or not, because that is often enough to treat it if they catch it fast enough.

https://www.niaid.nih.gov/diseases-conditions/lyme-disease-antibiotic-treatment-research

From the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases: "For early Lyme disease, a short course of oral antibiotics, such as doxycycline or amoxicillin, cures the majority of cases. In more complicated cases, Lyme disease can usually be successfully treated with three to four weeks of antibiotic therapy."

Nice ten point was shot the farm I hunt this morning, don't think I'll get out today maybe tomorrow. I'll just be shooting a doe anyway so I have my buck tag for upstate. My luck a monster will step out lol.

Nice little buck Daniel C should eat good, what you pop it with?
