Troy, the NYS regs always have a section for up front for new changes. That being said, they don't make it easy to understand with their wording. As far as I can tell, here in NY, you can use any centerfire caliber. And THAT being said, I feel left out, because I live in Dutchess, and can't use a rifle for deer. Never shot a deer with a rifle. Got a bunch of virgins in my safe! Killed a bunch with shotguns in the '80's, but then went to handgun, and black powder, and never looked back. Mostly handgun. I never get to hunt anywhere you can use a rifle, and that's something always gnawing at the back of my head... I've got some really nice rifles I'd like to hunt with. Top of my list I'd like to see what they can do, is a Marlin '94 in .44 Mag, Kimber Adirondack in .300 Blackout, Remington 788 in 6mm Rem., and a whole slew of Mauser conversions I did in the 80's and 90's in 30-06, .308, and .270. So many guns, so little time....
