New York State AWB - preban 30rd mags OK in post ban gun?

Ok, my brother in law has a newer (post 1994) bushmaster AR that's built within the AWB laws for new york state. There is no law stating that he cannot use a pre-ban 30 round magazine in this gun is there? From what I read in the text of the laws (http://www.nysrpa.org/nygunlaws.htm) pre-ban mags and pre-ban guns are all OK. No mention of not using a pre-ban mag in a new gun, but he is convinced that this is against the law for some reason. Just looking for some clarification if anyone can provide any. Thanks.

I am in NY and preban mags are legal to use in a postban gun. my friend is a NYS Trooper and FFL holder. we have discussed this topic in the past.

Plenty of Saiga owners in NY ask the same thing, yep, legal.
