Will instructors laugh at me for using a WASR-10? Will they show me how to do things like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7hi20TI_jA

What about shooting moving targets under stress? How do I become a completely tacticool ninja in the high religious tacticult?

Really, I just want to become proficient with my rifle.

Edit: I'm in Florida, the Gunshine state.

Take a carbine course.

It's not the instructor's job to laugh at you, it's to teach you to run what you've got. Not everyone can afford a $2000 tactical monstrosity with lights and lasers hung off it like Christmas ornaments; as long as your WASR functions as it's supposed to, who cares about anything else?

The AK emergency reload isn't all that hard to do, you just have to practice. You basically want to grab the (new) mag about midway, slide it along the triggerguard until it hits the mag release and flips the old mag out, then rotate the new mag and rock it in. No real fancy tricks to it.

What part of the new mag do I hit the mag catch with? Also, my mag catch is a bit stiff. I have to really put some force into it with some mags to get it to move. Does this get better over time, or is there a remedy for it?

I get the most leverage out of using the portion just above my grip to do it.

I'm just going off what I've seen on Youtube videos, none of which are close-up or slow-mo, so there may be a more "Delta-approved" way to do it that I'm not aware of, but either way, it works...
