Mine cans all say "Enhance collection/quiet target practice." I forget what the subgun Form 4 says.

I HAVE SBR Question here

Yeah I know im new and maybe posting this on a thread that isnt for this, but ill go for it and see what happens.

I want to get SBR and i dont know a thing
I called BATF and they were as helpful as tits on a boar.
ill just shoot out the Q's as it comes:
1-Do i get the short upper before or after the SBR approval letter?
2-if lets say i write 14 inches on the nfa paper, and then i want to go later on and place lets say a 10 inch upper, is that legal? or do i have to re fill a new paper?
3- if lets say i write in the shortest length avaiable, does that "cover me" for any length longer than what i wrote?
4-do i need to INFORM BATF by letter or phone each and every time i change the upper to a longer/shorter one?
5-if for some reason they dont approve sbr for me, does that mean they will be coming to my door?
6-since i have CCW does that make it harder or easier for me to get sbr?
7-do i apply for sbr with the BATF or do i do that at the dealer
8- would it be ''correct'' to write "for purposes of collection" on reason i want the SBR?
9-after i send the lower to get ingraved, do i need to send a picture or the lower to batf to prove that i did this?
10-is there anything at all im missing?
if you can email me, please send me all CORRECT information to [email protected] or [email protected]
:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Don't call the ATF, call the NFA branch in West Virginia. Their number is 304-616-4500. They are very, very cool people. They will answer the phone with a greeting of "NFA". That's the right place.

1- AFTER
2-Submit a letter stating the change.
3-No.
4-No.
5-No.
6-No effect.
7-Send forms in to dealer. He forwards them to NFA branch.
8-Yes, personal collection is accepted and professional reason.
9-No.
10-Not that I can think of.

I have one that says simply "less than 16 inches" but it's my understanding they are not approving them that way any longer. Might be worth asking about however, it sure is handy having it done that way.

10-is there anything at all im missing?

Don't forget the caliber. List every caliber you might ever possibly want to use. Again, I have one with 6 or 7 calibers listed but I'm not sure they still approve that.

Thank you both!
I really dont know if my Q's were dumb but everyone starts somewhere to learn.

I have heard that they stopped approving (sometimes they go through, sometimes they are kicked back) ranges of lengths such as 5"-16". So, folks just started listing all the common lengths they may want eventually (7", 10.5", 11.5", 14.5") etc. as well as any calibers (.22lr, 9mm, .45 acp, 5.56, 7.62) they may want, so a change letter doesn't have to be sent every time you want to swap an upper.
