I wonder about what NFA rules I would need to satisfy. Numrich has Webley shoulder stock conversions. I have a 45 ACP cut Webley MKVI from 1918. What hoops/fees/paperwork would be needed to buy and attach this to my Webley? Tube is 6".

Not the answer you want, but check out Mike Venturino's story on his Mk. VI .455 in the latest, "Shooting Times".

Is that shoulder board of recent production and if so, how much? What cat #?

Never mind

I found it on their website. It's new. Once I'm out of California, I'd be happy to pay the stamp to have a NFA weapon. It would look great with the bayonet attached. An assault-revolver.

You submit two copies of ATF FORM 1 (Application to Make and Register a Firearm) along with $200 to manufacture a short barreled rifle. When it comes back, you're done.

In certain cases of C&R type firearms, I believe the ATF has classified these types of pistol/stock conversions to be exempt from SBR registration. The one caveat was that all the pieces had to be original, and thus collectible. The Inglis HiPower with original stock cut and stock/holster is an example.

How this exemption is going to help you with the state and local authorities who generally require Federal registration to be legal is beyond me. In the long run, the $200 tax stamp may save you quite a bit of trouble.

Oh, and BTW, don't kid yourself by thinking that if you have the two in your possession that just because they're not attached, you don't have an SBR. Plenty of case law says you do. ;)
