For the record, I have 12 stainless Smiths, 12 blued Smiths and two nickel Smiths.

Among Brand X revolvers, I have two stainless and four blued.

I prefer the blued ones. Call it "for spiritual reasons." ;)

For a gun that is going to be "put to work", i.e., carried and shot a lot, I prefer stainless. For a collector gun (although I do shoot my collectors at least occasionally), there is nothing like Smith & Wessons old "Bright Blue" (no longer produced; I have read that they actually lost the formula) or Colt's "Royal Blue". I won't throw a nickel-plated gun out of bed for eating crackers, though. ;)

Stainles or Blued?

I like a good Blued handgun as well as the next guy but I buy mostly stainless steel. The stainless will still look new in 30 years and after being shot a lot, the Blued will show a lot of signs of wear from holsters and handling. When my children inherit my guns they will still be near new with out the hard wear look to them! :)

I just love Blued guns, wheel guns or autos, doesn't make any differance.
I do have a Stainless 629, but that's only because I couldn't get it in blue. :(
BLUE

I love autoloaders... *ow* *stop throwing rocks!!!*

:p

But honestly, I'd want the reliability of an SA/ DA revolver with the toughness of stainless steel. Esp. for something that'd get some hard use, like a tractor/ boat/ car gun.

Stainless!

I've seen too many pitted blued guns. Just like cars, they don't build 'em like they used to . . . thank Heaven!
I'm old enough to have worked with the "old" when it was new. Frankly, I don't miss it!
