I have been hand loading for a little over a year my first press was the Lee Anniversary kit signal stage a good press but slow. Christmas my wife bought me the Dillion RL550B the very same press I was looking at, to make a long story short I have cut the time reloading time for pistol ammo to a quarter of the time using the blue press. The Dillion press is very well made easy to use an setup now I have more time to spend at the range the Blue Kool aid is good.

Very nice Lman!!! I run a 550b and absolutely love it.
(excepting maybe it's tendency to spit spent primers into places other than the correct one)
:):):)

Welcome to the wonderful world of progressive presses. One round per pull is much nicer than 4-6 pulls :)

+1 on Dillon, including the tendency to spit primers on the floor. Just came in from my loading room so it is fresh on my mind. I have not done it yet, but plan to replace the thin cotter pin on the primer catcher with a piece of 1/16" welding rod. Supposed to cure the problem.

I read somehwere about mounting a magnet under there too to really control the spent primer drop.

Have to look that back up. I think it was at the Dillon forum...
See if I can find it and post it here.

Great Press..!!!

Problem is, the faster and more ammo you make....the more you shoot..!!
The more you shoot, the more you make!!
It's a viscous circle...:banghead:

Have fun and be safe.

lman,

Your wife is a real keeper. A Dillon 550 for Christmas sure beats a tie, barbecue grill, etc. that many get for gifts. Congrats and take your wife out someplace special to say thank-you.

best wishes- oldandslow

Sounds like Mrs Santa was good to you! I am picking up my XL650 Friday. It will be dedicated to 9mm only with case feeder, bullet feeder, and Inline Fab mount, and light. This will allow one 550 for .223, 40s&w, and .38spl, and the other for .45 acp.

Welcome to the Blue Nation my friend!
