: Kids & Firearm Safety Event Committee Meeting - July 16, 2003

The Boy Scouts need your help. Please spread the word to your lists and volunteer, donate, or provide resources if you can. Thank you.

Fellow Scouters,

We have reserved the Oakland Service Center for this Wednesday, July 16th, at 7:30 PM for the first meeting of the Kids & Firearm Safety Event which we plan to hold next October.

Address: 25 Ramapo Valley Rd. (Rt 202), Oakland, New Jersey 07436 off of Rt. 287
Phone#: (201) 677-1000
Fax#: (201) 677-1020

At one point or another, you either responded to a direct request to work on this event or have asked to be kept in the loop. If I have contacted you by mistake, please accept my apologies and just ask me to take you off of my mailing list.

Please feel free to "bring a friend" to the committee meeting. If you know of any other volunteer who would have an interest in this event, please give them my name, e-mail, and phone. Obvious choices would be the Shotgun Merit Badge Counselors in your districts, and Scout leader or NON-SCOUT LEADER such as local police officers, mothers, sporting club members, wives, school teachers, retirees, NRA members, sporting good store owners, politicians, etc., etc. who are interested in firearm safety for children.

I will need 2 or 3 people from each district who will be willing to make phone calls, stuff envelopes, visit Round Tables, etc as well as volunteers who will work on the day of the event.. (Jim Lupfer or Jon Brennen, please be sure to alert the other DE's. This event has potential for increasing youth membership, adult membership, and community FOS within each district.)

I will be e-mailing a meeting agenda by this weekend with notes on the many facets and questions that need to be decided or resolved. If you will be unable to attend, please review the agenda and take a moment to e-mail your thoughts on each subject and I will include them for the other attendees.

Thank you very much for your continued interest. With your efforts we will make this a very successful event.

YIS,

Bob Taschler
Ramapo Mountain Asst. District Commissioner\
