No hunting in California

Interestingly, though they don't give their opinion one way or the other on the dog issue, even CA Fish & Game seems to have taken a stand against the dove hunting ban. They have a FAQ on their site stating that dove populations are stable, and also stating how much money dove hunting brings to the state and to rural businesses.

"I have seen too many "hunters" on the wrong side of this issue and that is the truth, like it or not. It fries me. I am not alone in this perception, believe me."

You are not alone. This man speaks the truth.

Not being Californian, I have to ask the question: How do you keep a pack of deer dogs from running onto other folks' property? I know these two laws are probably started by the antis and are designed to stop bird hunters but they are probably getting a lot of support from deer hunters who are getting tired of having hunting packs run up on their stands.

I think the good news is that in pushing both these bills at once, the simpering liberal PETA lobby has screwed up. They've basically announced their intent to do to the hunters what they've already been doing to the "self defense gunnies" and THAT may finally drive the two types together.

I just read that due to overwhelming opposition, the dove hunting bill (AB1190) has been pulled. They are still going forward with a now amended bill on hunting with dogs.

The same place where I learned about the bill being pulled also had some interesting quotes from one of the anti-hunting pushers in the state. I think this should be a clear signal to the "I only hunt" crowd that we ALL need to stick together:

Anti-Hunters' Commander in Chief Speaks Out
Wayne Pacelle, HSUS Senior Vice-President, Chairman of HUMANE PAC and the architect behind AB342 and AB1190 speaks out on hunting:

"If we could shut down all sport hunting in a moment, we would."
(Quoted in "Impassioned Agitator," Associated Press, Dec. 30, 1991)

"Our goal is to get sport hunting in the same category as cock fighting and dog fighting. Our opponents say that hunting is a tradition. We say traditions can change."
(Quoted in Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Oct. 8, 1991)

"Only 7% of Americans are hunters. That means there are more of us than there are of them. It is simply a matter of democracy. The majority rules in a democracy. We are going to use the ballot box and the democratic process to stop all hunting in the United States... We will take it species by species until all hunting is stopped in California. Then we will take it state by state."
(Interviewed for Full Cry, "America's leading tree hound publication," October 1990)

Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona: Invest in barbed wire, and lots of it. Trust me on this one, or the refugee crisis will crush you once the fun starts.

Its been happening in Oregon for years now... Californianism spreads like wildfire. Its making its way throughout the NW.

It's more like 'California', cuz that's what it will do to you if you turn your back on it.

California - the land of the Do-Gooders

Maybe next they will require helmets and kevlar to legally hunt - 'for your own safety'. They have to keep us all safe from ourselves in order to keep those taxes coming in.....
(But don't hurt any of our Badguys though cuz we need them to fill the prisons...)

:cuss: a.k.a. "darn!"
