That sir is a jpeg. A screen shot of somewhere, we know not where. Post a link to the actual announcement please. These screaming me-me scare tactics are click-bait and don’t belong here. I don’t read Reddit Reloading for many good reasons. This type of trash being one of them.

By the way, Powder Valley has Alliant powders in stock and on sale. That’s very peculiar behavior for a company in the online sales business.

Post a link to the actual announcement please.

FYI – we have just received the following message from Vista Outdoors (the parent company of Alliant Powders): “Due to the worldwide shortage of nitrocellulose, the Vista Outdoor supply agreement for the sale of Alliant Powder canisters has been suspended for an unknown period. At this time, we have no timeline for the fulfillment and will be canceling outstanding Alliant orders in our system. Representatives will provide updates and coordinate new orders based on availability.”
In response, I have already reactivated "Same or similar/comparable powders" thread again for powder substitution - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...der-substitutions-again.930422/#post-12896481

Life happens. How we CHOOSE to respond, DEFINES us.

I hate to be the lone doubting Thomas but something a little more substantial than a Fakebook post would be more convincing. Maybe this is accurate but I remember the garbage Fakebook has passed off over the years.

My local finally has Alliant powders - at $35/lb after taxes - and I just overstocked on the few I use. I can afford to be wrong but this still strikes me as an artificially created panic. And not by Alliant or Powder Valley.

Ok heard back.

''Everything we’ve heard is rumors but 60% of nitro-cellouse is made in China and something about China tariffs stopped that from coming in. Then the Iran and Israel war has taken what Alliant gets and sent it to war.''

In 2024, announcements through social media like Facebook is how it's done whether we like it or not - https://www.facebook.com/p/Powder-Valley-100064328033682/

Remember when credit cards first appeared and someone said we would be moving towards cashless society? In 2024, you cannot use CASH at McDonalds in California. Must pay with credit/debit cards at self-serve kiosks - https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/l...erve/509-0deb6d4a-eb4b-48a1-9147-0a45b1cf0560

Guess I wasn't too far off - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/no-more-powder.930412/#post-12896451

As war in Ukraine and threat to NATO by Russia continue, demand for defense/military small arms munitions likely increased ...

My guess is entire Alliant Powder production capacity just got switched to supply military "non-canister" powder to supply military contract munitions orders.

Yes it does, and yes it does! I choose to respond by not panicking, and continuing to use what I have and buy what I need or foresee needing in the future.

I am not running out looking for powders today, and I won't tomorrow either. IF I see a good deal on a powder I use AND I can afford to buy it then I will, otherwise no.

With the exception of new shooters and new reloaders, we've all known that shortages due to the Ukraine/Russia war were a real possibility. And now with the Israel/Hamas war, shortages have become "more" real. I was a new reloader 5 1/2 years ago, and got caught short a couple of years ago when the shortages happened. I've slowly built my stock up and can say it won't happen again. Anybody that's been shooting for a few years should know at least roughly how much ammo they need in order to have a years supply. Same for anybody that's been reloading for a few years.

and I just overstocked on the few I use.

I can afford to be wrong but this still strikes me as an artificially created panic
I can afford to be wrong as well, but I'm still not going to go buying powder "willy nilly". I've been "overstocking for the last three years, little by little, as I could afford it on powders and primers. I did recently buy a pound of Bullseye for $52 just to try it, not because of any real or artificial shortage. I've read that it's good for the calibers I load.

I still need to put in an order for some bullets, but I also still have enough to keep me shooting for a good while at the rate I shoot.

Great attitude!
Isn’t @Alliant Reloading still posting here? That would be the horse’s mouth.

Good call out….
Thanks. Regardless of the response from @Alliant Reloading I still do not condone rumor mongering or attempting to create panic using unsubstantiated claims. Fakebook is not a reliable source of information. Never has been - Never will be.

Even if in this instance the basic claims are accurate, it doesn’t belong here without verification. This isn’t Reddit.

I will agree……
However, I will also begrudgingly agree that social media is the present and future communication outlay…….

I try to have a good positive attitude, I know that I have it worse than some and better than others. Poor attitudes do nothing positive for anyone.
However, I will also begrudgingly agree that social media is the present and future communication outlay…….
I really hate to say it, but I believe you're 100% correct. It's the future, and it's now.

Go to the Powder Valley website.
Scroll down to the F Facebook icon.
Click on it, it takes you to the Facebook page Powder Valley controls.
There you will see the Alliant announcement.
Obviously, this was typed by someone at least affiliated with Powder Valley, correct or not, unless it got hacked.
It isn't Facebook generated content, it is only hosted by Bookface. It is independent of Zukerberg's possible lizard status.
There is plenty of crap on the Internet, here included.

It helps to learn the hallmarks of fakers, like bad grammar or misuse a of logo (someone from the communication part of the Coca-Cola corporation will never spell Coke with a lowercase c or leave off the TM, for example). Small firms may not have these tells, but links off their own websites are usually valid.

In other words, trust.. but verify.

Another brilliant post:)
I stopped watching when the noncomfirmation became sufficient confirmation to proceed with spreading the unconfirmed rumors.

SportSouth doesn’t seem to have been given the word. The shop in Micanopy is still receiving orders of Alliant powders. No Reloader 10X but they are restocking Power Pistol tomorrow for weekend sales.

Cry “Panic!” And let slip the whispering Monkeys.
