No Reaction to Open Carry at all

It really bothers me when I see some people discussing open carry in threads around here and they'll say that anyone open carrying should expect to be hassled by the police and imply there's nothing wrong with police hassling someone for exercising their lawful rights. I like being able to point out my hometown as an example, that it's possible to have a culture that recognizes and respects the right to go visibly armed with no stigma or prejudice. I kinda feel I have a duty to continue reinforcing that attitude, since every year this little town gets a little bigger and more urban.

I guess I'll have to see how it goes next time I'm down in Phoenix, or if I carry something a little scarier. Anyone know where to get a nice holster for an AK pistol?

Well, if it makes you feel better, you would have gotten a reaction from me. I tend to roll my eyes and chuckle to myself when I see someone wearing their shootin' leathers out. I have no doubt that someone saw you and thought, "Go get 'em, Tex! Keep the frontier for all those little ladies and their wagons."

Little funny story: my non-resident neighbor is here from back east, along with a lady friend. I was up there helping him with something, and wondering a little if she would get freaked out by my visible sidearm. We were sitting around waiting for some service guys to show up, and he steps outside for a minute. I went out to find him, and lo and behold - now he has his revolver strapped on! :D Cool!

You're in AZ. OC is no big deal there.

Come try that in WI where OC is "legal".

+1 MisterPX!

Fiirst cop that saw you here would have you on the ground. I had to show my wife's cousin (a County Deputy) the Statute to prove to him it was legal.

Maybe everyone in Prescott who isn't retired or in real estate works for Ruger?

Well, I know that isn't true. I'm not retired, in real estate, or working for Ruger. There has to be someone else around here too. :uhoh:

I have OC'd often in Arizona (and in my home state just next door to the East). No hassle.

Of course, it may be that we haven't been bothered due to the fact that we are both left-handed and folks were looking at the right side.

Maybe we should make a day out of the year called "Open Carry Day", that way more people would get used to it. I've never oc'd in Las Vegas where I live, and don't believe I've even once ever seen anyone do it in over three decades of living here. Maybe I'll be the first...

I open carry often in and around the Seattle – Tacoma area here in Washington. At first, it got me a couple hassles from uninformed police officers, but we’ve gotten that taken care of. Lately it’s been delightfully uneventful.

Open Carry in Tennessee is Legal

Open Carry in Tennessee is Legal, but it is not wise. To much Oh No!:uhoh: man with a gun. I prefer to not be known or recognized. I just act like an old fat man, which I am: with a .357 or .45 on my hip that is. :neener:

Personally, I think your example should give us all alot of pause - could very well be possible that we are all too paranoid and dote too much over printing and stuff like that.

Oh, so that was YOU I saw in the Wal-Mart! An automatic is definitely more fashionable in that setting, but I didn't say anything. :)

Not many places in Prescott make a fuss about pistols, with the exception of Costco-- I presume that's some kind of company policy (like the Fry's Electronics in Phoenix).

I used to open carry in PV. Lots of people at the flea market doing it there too. Close proximity to Gunsite?

IIRC the county had to send out memos saying that open carry was perfectly legal in your county, King county right?

Must be nice. Well at least my state is Shall Issue and lets me have high cap mags in those "Scary Evil Semiautomatic Machine Pistols". I guess I'll try not to be too jealous.

Indeed God Bless Arizona. After making the move from CA this place was just what I needed. I'm just now coming down from the gun high I was on for the last 2 months now that I know I can continue doing what I do and there's no rush.

I OC all the time here, just to scare the sheeple, usually my G21 or G23 in a Fobus. When I walk into Fry's or Costco, I throw my shirt over it and no one knows the difference (I have a CCW as well). For me, it's about excercising my 2nd amendment right to carry, and if people get offended, well, it's not my fault they haven't read the law of the land, especially here in AZ. Long live Arizona, I'm going to live and die here a happy man.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

Try that in Detroit!!It's legal here, but you will be hassled (or killed and eaten).

even though it's legal here in N.H.if i was to OC,i'd more then likely have a mass tourist that's not used to seeing someone other then LEO carrying a gun and call the cops(has happened here acouple of times).

mainly C.C. with IWB and just uncover while in car or house

when out riding I carry mt 6" model 19 in a drop down tex showmaker rig. the black leather duty rig matches the leather jacket pretty well, I need to get leather chaps or something so it blends in with my pants better. I've only been stopped once. That was in down town houghton last week when there was some sort of biker convention going on. Got pulled over by 3 state officers, 2 guys from dearborn, mi; all 6 were on bikes. Seems they weren't used to seein people open carry. The local county mountie came over and straightend things out.
