No Wolf ammo allowed at a range?

I shoot at 2 indoor ranges in the Portland area. At one you must use their ammo.

At the other Wolf is prohibbited because it is dirty and takes more effort to clear the smoke out of the building. I had never used Wolf and was at the second place one day. A couple lanes down someone was firing Wolf and the range got smokey in a hurry. Guess I see their point.

Cordex,

I agree. I was just telling of personal experience and 2 ranges that don't allow wolf.

I still have never used it. Don't know that I will, there is ammo that isn't much more expensive and doesn't have steel cases. I use steel case stuff in my Makarov and haven't had any problems. But then the ammo and the gun were designed for each other.

Wolf is really steel-jacketed? Hm. That explains why it sparks so much. Fortunately, my range doesn't have a restriction against wolf (fortunately because we just bought 500 rds of Wolf 7.62x54R for my Mosin yesterday).

If I own a range, I wouldn't sell or reload trash brass. I'd deprime it and melt it to make sculptures, but then, I'm an artist at heart...

Sounds like ASC to me! Interesting that the stories change. When I asked "why no Wolf" they told me it was steel core and damaged their backstops.

I knew they had a Wolf ban before I joined, so it doesn't bother me. Being told AFTER you paid would be a major no-no, in my book.

American Shooting Center on Ruffin Road, yes.

Their backstop can handle up to .300 Win Mag rifle, at least that's
what one clerk told me. I've fired my Mini-14 in there and they
didn't ask or check if I had steel-core ammo.

I go to an indoor range that has it well posted no steel case, no sttel core, no WOLF ammo and the employees check all the bags that come in too.

It's my brass and I take it with me when I leave. And if there's any other brass there it comes too. If they want it they should have picked it up before I got there.:D

Otherwise I'd find somewhere else to shoot.
