I know that the 1911 has a grip safety that makes sure that the gun very safe to carry with the hammer down and a round chambered, but I am curious as to how much guns without such a safety can be trusted? If you were to carry a CZ 75 SAO gun like my own 75 Shadow or a 75b SA, would you feel safe carrying it in condition 1?

I cant carry myself, but carrying has alwasy interested me, and I would really like to know more.

I say YES as long as you carry with a holster that covers the trigger.

I frequently carry a Browning HiPower.

the problem with most other sao guns is the safety is in an off position or ist just not right. A Hi power the stock safety is really small and hard to manipulate for people with large thumbs and fingers not to mention all the ones I have handled were hard to move any way. On the CZ/EAA series guns its too smooth to get a good "grip" on. However through the advent of these guns getting gamed through IDPA ans IPSC there are aftermarket safeties that eliminate these problems. So as long as you can manipulate the safety then yes it is safe to carry in condition1

The grip safety actually has no function at all unless the hammer is cocked.
It then only blocks the trigger bow, but not the hammer or sear.

The thumb safety blocks the hammer & sear, but it cannot be used unless the gun is cocked either.

SO, what makes a 1911 safe with a loaded chamber and the hammer down is the inertia firing pin.

It is shorter then the hole through the slide, so it cannot contact the primer unless the hammer hits it with full force and knocks it out of it's hidey-hole far enough to fire the round.

Not all other guns have an inertia firing pin design, so would not be safe with the hammer down on a loaded round.

The OP is saying condition one but describing condition two, I have no problem carrying my CZ75B (DA/SA) in condition one.

While I probably wouldn't be comfortable carrying it in a true condition two, the manual states that " In this (decocked) state the pistol is safe for all normal handling."

Not necessarily. My Kimber's grip safety also lifts a tab up to disengage the firing pin block when engaged. This is the series II type safety and many 1911s use that system.
