The old wool baseball caps with that dang metal button on the crown and the stiff brim sure hurt like the devil when you got popped with it.

Some folks put challenge coins in cap pockets for the same purpose (only more so).

I once watched someone fend off and subdue an attacker with a rolled up paperback book. First shot was the spine of the book right in the agressor's throat. I can tell you I was IMPRESSED. For some reason it never occurred to me how dense a book is and what a good club it can make.

Just goes to show that anything can probably be used as a weapon if you are creative enough.

Shawnee,

A "challenge coin" - 1.5" to 2" metal medallion weighing anywhere from 1 to 2 oz commemorating or signifying being part of a group (usually military, but now grown to all sorts of things).

Tuck the metal disc in your soft cap and use it as a weighted surprise impact device.

ZeSpectre,

Some of the old OSS and British Commando training involved use of everyday items in self defense roles. Books, magazines, lighters and matchboxes were covered in some of the manuals/books I've seen.
