Since my brother recently moved to New Haven, I am thinking about applying for a non-resident CT carry permit.

In researching the CT permit system, I've gathered that although it is not a "shall issue" state, it could be considered a "usually issue" state. I have received the application packet from the state police, and one question on the application asks "reason for permit."

Can anybody advise me what answer seems to work?

Dshimm, CT had one of the first "shall issue" laws. It got through even with Weicker in office. Just put down "self-defense" and forget it.

-Sans Authoritas

All lawful purposes dshimm.

It is what I put down.

Ct is shall issue certainly for Non-residents based on applying directly to the State Police.

Ct residents apply for a tem permit through a local I.A. which could be a Police chief or even a mayor.

If one of them denies you without just cause, appeals to the State Police Board Of Examiners will get one issued.

So CT in essence is shall ssue!
