Northeastshooters.com down?

I'm in the middle of a trade, was going to meet up with the guy Thursday, don't know if he got the time or location. His name was 38 supper something, can't find him on another forum. I guess we depend too much on the computer!

I just did a search on Google for "northeastshooters down" and found this thread. I hadn't been on THR for a while so maybe NES being down was good to remind me that there are other gun sites out there?

Good to hear that it's just a server problem - I was beginning to wonder if it was something else since it had been down for so long.

The authoritative DNS servers for NES are also not responding. Perhaps they were all on the same server. I'm sure Derek is on top of it.

I had just returned from the shoot at Mansfield, logged on and found that I had won the Rossi youth combo shotgun and rifle karma put up by cstockwell. I sent him a PM with my info to set up a FTF transfer, and an hour later I checked the site and it was down. He evidently didn't get my PM as he hasn't called. Anyone on here know him?

I've got the shakes because NES has been down so long.

It just takes a server to really foul things up!

NES is Still down, as well as masscops.com, they share the same server. This must be one hell of an issue. I'm wondering if the company that was providing the server services went belly up. I could have built a new server since they went down 4/5 days ago.

I was wondering pretty much the same thing - it seems like northeastshooters.com doesn't exist in DNS at the moment:

$ nslookup northeastshooters.com

If I lookup just about any other domain name I can think of - I get a response, northeastshooters.com however = gonzo.

Do a whois lookup - and ping all three of the DNS servers listed for northeastshooters.com - no response:

Try to go to the website for www.vegasvipnetworks.com - no response there either.

Something is screwy with vegasvipnetworks - according to this site:

http://www.hosterstats.com/2010/DomainRetentionTrends2010.php?hoster=vegasvipnetworks.com

They lost a bunch of their hosted domains in 2010. They went from 92 hosted domains on Feb 1, to 52 on May 1.

Any company that loses that amount of business in that short a period of time you have to wonder if something is up.

If vegasvipnetworks went tits up that might explain the long down time - it would take a while to get up and running on a completely different network provider.

On a positive note, I've made some startling discoveries since NES has been down, Evidently I have a wife and four kids! And a house and friends that like to go out to eat and to the range and I also found a TON of ham radio equipment that I can't stop using now, what was the name of that gun forum again?

i hate to say it, it looks like his host went belly-up... i found a couple other sites that were hosted through the same host and they're all defunct.

if derek is reading this, i'd be willing to host this through the same account as my website: NortheastRanges.com while you find another host
