Was out shooting with my father this morning. He got a new uberti El patron cms (think that's the name). Anyways he grabbed up a few boxes of various ammo. He shot quite a bit while I was shooting my own guns. I asked to give it a try he loads up a cylinder full of the cheap blazer aluminum stuff. It's cheap as far as 45 colt, goes. I don't think he rellized it was aluminum. Anyways I shot two rounds off than the third one didn't go off. It seems to have moved but it didn't make a boom. Not buying that crap again.

I've shot about 10,000 rounds of the Blazer aluminum cased ammo over the years and I've never had a problem with it.
I did have several problems with some Blazer Brass ammo, but I contacted CCI and explained the problem and they promptly sent a return label and replaced ALL of what I had purchased (2,000 rounds).
I'm pretty happy with them.

Blazer .22lr is the only cheap ammo I've found that reliably cycles my autos. Had an issue with a few boxes being over lubed... wax build up around the bullets that sometimes had to be scraped off with a thumbnail before loading. All went bang however.

Did you read the headstamp?
Kinda lucky it didn't fire. Case would have split.
Guess a 44mag case got in the bin for 45 colt and they stuffed a bullet into it.

Happens with all brands occasionally, I bet blaser would be interested in it and the lot number from ammo box.
I got a box of Remington 300 blk with two rounds missing primers. Noticed them as i was loading mag from box. Sent it back and got a new box.

Holy crap, didn't even read that. Ima have to text my dad .

You get what you pay for. My G17 likes it okay, but then again, it eats pretty much anything I feed it. Grouped okay too. In my old 995 it was quite accurate and consistent.

I don't believe I've seen a picture like that before. Right bullet, wrong case. Obviously a QC glitch and, as mentioned, CCI would probably like to know about it.

I've had good luck with Blazer aluminum for range ammo. I would never use it for self-defense because I've noticed that the grip on the bullet seems to be weaker than with brass ammo resulting in rapid and significant setback in autopistols, and, I assume, potential crimp jump issues in revolvers.

Thanks again for pointing that out. That is extremely unsafe. I was puzzled why it was so bulged and it makes sense now. I talked to my dad and suggested your advice in contacting CCI.

Try some aluminum blaser 38 spl lrn in a light weight snub.
3 shots and you get to learn how to unjam a revolver.

I've had two issues with Blazer ammo.
1. If used in the tube magazine of a lever action you will get setback.
2. In my Springfield 1911, the extractor will occasionally rip the rim of the case rather than extract the empty. Doesn't happen in my Colt 1911 or Sig 220.
I simply don't use it in those guns.
Those pics though. How did that get by QC? Good thing it didn't go off.

I reload so I prefer to shoot brass cased ammo but will shoot aluminum when I can't recover the case. Seems like these days you can get brass cased ammo for about the same as the aluminum cased

Although I haven't shot not that much I've been shooting Blazer aluminum for about 30 years. The only "problem" I've had is slightly sticky extraction with 38s. Zero issues with it in 32, 9mm, and 45 ACP.

I had a Ruger Vaquero 357 that hated it. Sticky extractions and would sometimes bind the cylinder.

My Taurus 44 spl Titanium snubbed likes it and groups well with the 200 gr blazer hollow points. They do get sticky but not as bad as the Ruger.

I've fired it in semi autos w/o any issues

I am not an expert on aluminum material properties, nor have I compared aluminum elongation versus brass, but I have a feeling that using 44 Magnum cases in a 45 LC application will lead to some sidewall, or, case head splits.

I think that ammunition is extremely dangerous. It is totally mind boggling to believe that any manufacturer would have mixed up its product line to the point they had 44 Magnum cases on a 45 LC production line. I mean, where is the Quality Control?

Ask any American ammo manufacturer if they will guarantee that their ammo will not blow up in your gun or if it will even fire. None of them will. Ever been to Las Vegas? It's just like that. If you do not load your own ammunition you need to learn and buy the tools. You can not only make better ammo - you can make MUCH more reliable ammo that will be more accurate for your particular gun.

Almost all factory ammo today is mass produced junk.

Excuse me, but that statement is simply too extreme. I reload most of my ammo, but I often buy Federal 38 Special, and it is not junk.

Of course, I guess that depends on your definition of Junk.

Especially 22lr!

Are you being facetious or do you actually believe that?

I have not yet perfected the technique for handloading 22 Long Rifle ammo.

Having said all that, a number of years ago I bought a couple of bags of WInchester 44-40 brass. Each bag was sealed when I bought them. And each bag had 2 pieces 44 Magnum brass inside. Now I only buy Starline brass. I have not yet discovered any 'wrong cases' in any of the Starline brass I have bought, and I have probably bought a few thousand pieces in several calibers by now.

P.S. I have never bought Blazer ammo because all the stuff I saw had Berdan style priming, and I am not equipped to reload Berdan.

Blazer is fine, I have never had much problems with it. Now, if your talking about a certain ammunition I wish, pray, long for Blazer Aluminum cased ammo, it would be their short run of 9mm Largo ammo. I really miss that, ran so well in my Super Star. But like you, I buy and reload with the awesome Starline brass.

"Are you being facetious or do you actually believe that?"

I was just being facetious. On the rare occasions I buy centerfire ammo, it seems okay. I buy the big cheap boxes of 22lr and will have about one bad round per box, but that's what I get for going cheap.
