Is it just me or are a lot of similarities between Ed Brown & Dan Wesson's 1911s? I first noticed it between the Kobra Karry & the CBOB then the PM7 and the Executive Elite...hmmm...just me? :scrutiny:
Now I do understand that in today's market, everyone & their grandmother is making a 1911 and there is only so much that can be done w/ that platform, I just find the similarities kinda cool

The only similarities between a Dan Wesson and an Ed Brown is that they are both 1911 platforms. Wesson has copied some of the details of the Brown but anyone can do that.

OTOH I have noticed that since Wesson changed hands the same guns seem to be 50% higher in price. $600 1911's seem to have moved up to $900, at least around here. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the Wesson pistols but in my opinion they are really competing with the Taurus 1911, not the Ed Brown.

Oh, don't get me wrong...I'm not saying they're competing w/ each other...I'm just saying as a poor man's version, the DW is a nice option.

No, CZ USA (they own DW) is actually buying some of their 1911 small parts from Ed Brown. When you buy the parts from, and give credit to the folks who invented them it's not copying in my book. The DWs look like a good value in a high end production 1911.
