My fellow gun-owners and Second Amendment defenders--

The Heller decision, while vital to our Rights, does not represent an end to the struggle for regaining our full Second Amendment Rights.

It only represents a beginning.

For those who have been in battle and experienced victory in combat, you know firsthand that victory was won when you used the momentum from successful operations and missions and tactics to overpower the enemy and force him into complete and unconditional surrender.

Some of you have also seen how once momentum was gained, but then the decision was made to "hold off," how that momentum lost its energy and gave your enemy opportunities to regroup, develop new strategies and increase their strength.

In the battle for our Rights, now is the time to flood our elected officials with our opinions regarding the Second Amendment. Now is the time to either join pro-Second Amendment and pro-gun organizations, and/or to renew your memberships.

If you are not a fan of the NRA, then join your state rifle association. Join The Second Amendment Foundation. Join something that adds your voice to the multitudes.

The more ways you can make your voice heard and felt, the more influence you will have both collectively and individually.

My greatest fear is that with the Heller decision, we will become apathetic. We will trust the "Law of the Land" to do what's right in regards to our freedom and rights.

Never forget that the decision was only 5 to 4 in favor of freedom itself. You have an election coming up, the winner of which gets to seat federal judges for life in U.S. District courtroom, federal appellate courts, and of course, the Supreme Court. Choose your candidate wisely and vote accordingly.

Now is not the time to bicker about whether or not the NRA did enough or tried to derail the case, or if GOA is simply fear-mongering or if JPFO is looking for more donations, blah blah blah.

Now is not the time to sit back in our easy chairs and feel smug with this initial victory and give our enemies the opportunity to regroup and re-emerge stronger and more energized.

Now is not the time to stop writing letters to the editors of our daily rags and fish wrappers.

If we do, our victory will be short-lived.

You defend your rights by making them stronger. You make your rights stronger by making your voice heard all the more often and all the more louder. In the boxing ring, when you have your opponent on the ropes and reeling and staggering, you do not step away and give him time to catch his breath and recover.

You finish him off. In doing so, you win. You win not by judges decision, but by knockout. It's an undisputed victory.

So NOW is the time to join a pro-gun association or renew your membership.

NOW is the time to continue pummeling those who wish to repeal our Rights.

NOW is the time to bombard our editors with pro-gun and pro-Second Amendment letters.

NOW is the time to flood our elected representatives at all levels with our opinions and demands that they leave our rights alone and only work to strengthen them.

NOW is the time to unabashedly promise them if they fail to do so, we will send them home and replace them with someone who will.

NOW is the time to stand together, united as supporters and defenders of the Second Amendment.

And NOW is the time to use the momentum we gained today to protect our Rights today, tomorrow and forever.

It was a good decision. Let's not waste it.

Jeff

For those who have been in battle and experienced victory in combat,

Those that have been in battle don't bring it up every single time they post.

Other than that I'm there dude

TexasSkyhawk, I agree wholeheartedly. We have to push even harder now, to solidify our position, and take more ground.

While I think a much more appropriate analogy would have been momentum in football or basketball, I agree with your sentiment, and hopefully we can all band together and ensure this will be the beginning of a new era of freedom!

Yes it is good news. But we must still be vigilant and keep after those that would take away our RKBA. Do not think it is over, the war is still not won. I would bet the left wingers are right now trying to figure out ways, to circumvent this. So we must still watch and defeat any affort that they come up with.
