For all of calendar year 2013, I haven't received the NRA-ILA Weekly Alert that comes every Friday, usually from [email protected]. I believe my last one was 11/3/2012.

I made sure the following are in my "Safe Senders List" in Hotmail:

@ilaalerts.org
@nramedia.org
@nraila.org
@nraschoolshield.com

Earlier this year I tried subscribing again from the NRA-ILA website but never even got the confirmation e-mail (where you verify that you want to subscribe). Then all of a sudden I was subscribed to the NRA-ILA Daily Alert, but that only came about half a dozen times in July.

I tried my Gmail account. I had better luck, but I was subscribed to the Daily list as well, when I really just want the Weekly list.

I just now tried again to subscribe to the NRA-ILA Weekly list to my Hotmail account and received the usual:

Thank You

We've received your request to be added to our email list. You'll soon be receiving a verification email, just click the enclosed link to confirm your subscription.

Your email alerts will be sent from [email protected] and ilaalerts.org. Please be sure to set your spam filters to allow these addresses and domains.

but absolutely no e-mail has been received.

I'm at a loss here. Have you guys noticed anything fishy going on with receiving the NRA-ILA Weekly alert? Is this on NRA-ILA's end or is it possibly Microsoft doing something fishy and blocking NRA.

I *do* get the NRA Store and NRA Instructor e-mails to my Hotmail, just nothing from the NRA-ILA lists. Frustrating.

There is a FAQ that states:

I subscribe to NRA-ILA email alerts but have not been receiving them.

Occasionally our email alerts get caught in the spam filters of some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) due to increased efforts to eliminate unsolicited commercial e-mail (UCE), otherwise known as spam. If you have recently installed spam filtering or subscribed through your ISP to filtering you may want to see if that is causing the problem. Also, some ISPs subscribe to blacklist sites which supply a list of email addresses that have been blacklisted because they are assumed to be spam.

PLEASE MAKE SURE ANY SPAM FILTERING SOFTWARE, WHETHER FROM YOUR ISP OR YOUR OWN PERSONAL SOFTWARE IS SET TO ALLOW EMAIL FROMT THE DOMAINS nramedia.org, nraila.org AND www.ilaalerts.org. For assistance in setting this up, please contact your ISP if it is ISP filtering or your documentation for your personal filtering software.

If you are using AOL, Yahoo, MSN, or Hotmail you may want to check your Junk Mail or Bulk Items folder. Sometimes these services will route our email alerts to these folders. If you are using Earthlink's spamBlocker you will need to add the above domains to your allowed senders list.

To help us diagnose this problem, please contact your ISP and ask them the following:

Have they made any recent changes to their service regarding spam filtering? Check if email from the domains listed above is getting caught in their spam filters.
If possible, please exclude our email address from their spam filter so you can receive our alerts. Inform them that our email alerts are opt-in alerts so we are not spamming people.
Ask them to provide information about any blacklist sites they subscribe to so we can take the appropriate steps to have our email address removed if it is on the list.

After you receive a response from your ISP please contact NRA-ILA at 800-392-8683 or by clicking here and provide us with the information.

I might as well just call NRA-ILA Monday to see if they are aware of Microsoft blacklisting NRA-ILA e-mails.

Bump. Guys, I don't want to be bothersome, but I've left a voice mail with NRA-ILA (no answer), and I've also used their online "Contact Us" form and sent a message (also no answer).

I'm pretty technical with full-time IT experience, so we can rule out cluelessness on my part. I've triple-checked both domains and e-mails in my Hotmail whitelist:

Full domain:
ilaalerts.org
nraila.org
nramedia.org
nraila.nramedia.org

Full e-mail address:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

I'm actually surprised no one on THR uses Hotmail/Live/Outlook to receive the NRA-ILA newsletter, since no one's really responded to this thread. I guess I'm frustrated since I'd really love to just subscribe to the silly weekly newsletter, and haven't received it this entire year.

The thing that's weird is I receive the usual spam on the NRA Wine Club, endorsed life insurance, credit card, all the NRA Store e-mails (including Instructor edition).

My strategy is persistence -- I'll just keep calling that number until I get a live human instead of a voice mail. I've bent over backwards for the NRA, NRA Foundation, NRA General Operations, and it'd be nice if they could get their technical house in order. Heck, maybe they'll hire me someday.

Mods/admins: Sincere apologies if this thread is "off-topic" (?) but it would really help out my problem solving if another Hotmail user can confirm or deny they're getting the ILA Alerts.

I'm digging a little deeper and noticed this on a Second Amendment Foundation / CCRKBA e-mail:

Hotmail-RKBA-Fraud_zps82e5e50a.png

I know MSNBC is pretty anti-gun, and I wonder if this is some creepy way for Microsoft to implement 21st Century anti-gun techniques to keep pro-RKBA folks in the dark and classifying e-mail lists from NRA and SAF and CCRKBA and the like as "spam" or "phishing" or "fraud" e-mails.

Too tinfoil hat? Or within the realm of possibility?
