Mastiff - you are fully aware that a vote for ACLU Bob Barr is a vote for Obama? You do realise that a SCOTUS judge is appointed for life? You obviously don't care for the Second Amendment - the one most important subject of the upcoming November vote. Liking McCain has no bearing on the vote - I also don't like him, but BB has zero chance, and Obama is against everything the I feel is America. Being you are from Illinois, I guess you need to be excused for living in "Obama Country". To each his own, but voting against McCain is always a vote for the opposition.

Try not to rub it in man I am reminded every single day of how retarded this states gun laws are.:banghead: Imagine what life would be like without :cuss:govenor blowfish and senator osoma binladen

sailortoo, everyone is entitled to vote their conscience. Don't try to browbeat someone into voting for who you want them to...

Seriously, I live in Utah. I can vote for Obama, and it won't mean squat. Utah will go for McCain. I might just vote for Bob Barr too, just as a protest vote. I don't feel like I can vote either McCain or Obama in good conscience.

My vote is wasted here, Sailor. Obama owns this state, I posted that in my comments. McCain couldn't win here if he were handing out $100 bills at the polling places. My vote for Bob Barr is to tell the Republican Party to get their head out. If they don't we will become a worthless out of power party for the next 40 years, IMHO.
I have voted my entire life pro-gun, so don't hand me that "Don't care for the 2nd Amendment" crap. It is my biggest interest. I even got myself a concealed carry license and I live in Illinois. I had to send to Pennsylvania to get it. It isn't valid here but I'm armed when I go out of state.
You are not thinking things through. If there is no rule of law and the Constitution is ignored the Second Amendment is useless. Bush has been merrily shredding the Constitution for years, he believes he and his people are above the law. He has no respect for the Constitution. Just because he says he is for the 2nd Amendment you believe him? You should look at what he does, not what he says. The Brady Campaign even endorsed the brief his Solicitor General gave to the Supremes. Bush stated he supports an Assault Weapons Ban.
Our country is going into the tank because of this guy and his policies. My love of country has finally overcome my support of the Republicans and the 2nd Amendment fight. Without respect for law, the 2nd Amendment doesn't stand. Look at what they illegally did in confiscating private citizens guns in NOLA. They, however, didn't take away Blackwaters guns. This was not the actions of people who care about gun rights, they just blew them off.

WOW - that was a mixed response! First, my last sentence was "to each his own" - we each get to vote as we feel is right - I certainly don't tell anyone how to vote, just why a certain vote is damaging. Second, Bush hating has nothing to do with the upcoming election, he is not running. Third, NOLA was Blanco and Nagin - had absolutely nothing to do with Bush. Weird combination of complaints! My point, always try for the best outcome - particularly when the appointment of SCOTUS judges may be involved. Look at the D.C. v Heller case - 5 to 4, and we won only because of the Two Bush Appointments!!!!! I realize it is hopeless to debate, I just dread the thought of Obama making SCOTUS appointments.

If you think the gun confiscation in NOLA was Nagin and Blanco, I think you are naive. At that point in time, the US military owned New Orleans. Having the troops taking the firearms away was not in Nagin's power, he certainly did not control them.

Being down on Bush has everything to do with this election, McBush has stated he will continue with Bush's policies. I think they have been very destructive for our country. I wanted to vote for McCain back in 2000, I thought he had integrity. However, he isn't the same man now that he was then.

But the other side of that coin is that nothing Obama (or McCain) says at this point in time can be trusted either because it's nothing more than election rhetoric.

Ding, Ding, Ding....We have a winner!

I am willing to take that risk that the Conservative Justices can last out the fallout from Heller so as to get the 2nd Amendment back to meaning what it should.

THe collective vs. individual right argument in heller was 5-4. I think anyone that takes this position is ignoring that fact.

McBush has stated he will continue with Bush's policies.

On what?
McCain is the polar opposite on Heller vs DC.
McCain is the polar opposite on global warming
McCain is the polar opposite on the corn ethanol fraud/boondoogle
McCain is the polar opposite on Rumsfeld, the man who screwed up Iraq
James Hansen, the top Guru at NASA can't stand Bush but gave a glowing endorsement for McCain in 2004.

This conversation belongs over at armedpolitesociety. I find it curious that anyone that uses the term "McBush" doesn't seem to know what they are talking about and doesn't seem to worry about the second amendment. Please, take this crap over to armedpolitesociety.com

Where is info on troops confiscating weapons-I have neither seen/heard of troops confiscating weapons in New Orleans.
In the book "The Great New Orleans Gun Grab", it was reported the 82nd Airborne was told to confiscate guns and they told the locals powers absolutely not (think the quote was something like "we just got back from Iraq-we ain't firing on our own people").
According to the author, the 2 most professional outfits in New Orleans were the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the 82nd Airborne (82nd Airborne apparently garnered the highest praise from citizens).

Everything I’ve seen AFA confiscating weapons was done by police-both local and out of state agencies brought in. If I’m not mistaken, one outside agency of volunteers packed up and went home when they were told to confiscate weapons. I can’t verify, but I remember seeing/reading at the time-I thought is was some California Highway Patrol officers, but if memory serves, the elderly lady who was tackled and removed was by a California police unit?

Anywho…I’d like some info on troops confiscating weapons in New Orleans if anybody has it?

the NO gun grab was by LEOs, not troops.

McCain /= Bush
Obama /= gun rights

Choose who you wish, but if you vote obama, don't cry when draconian gun laws come into place.
