NYC Pistol Permit - Armed Guard question

I'm in the process of moving to Brooklyn and wanted to take up a job as a security gaurd. I currently live out of state, and I believe from what I have read so far I will have to be certified for all my security training in the great state of NY. Since I'm doing the training for the security as is I want to further the training in order to get my Armed Security Guard Licence, this extra step will increase my pay substantially.

Before I can even apply for the armed licence training I must first have a NYC Pistol Permit.


Here's where my questions come in:

How long does it take to be processed and recieve your permit (you must specify why you need the permit, so does anyone have information on time it takes for armed gaurd training purposes)?

What's the law on carrying your firearm to and from work within the city?

IIRC in the circumstances you related the gun will belong to your employer and be left at their office when you're not working. New York doesn't have a non-resident permit and doesn't have reciprocity with any state.

Have you asked your employer about any of this?

It will be a work related permit. You will only be able to carry the firearm while on duty.
