i am in the process of applying for my pistol permit in nyc. i had the interview a month ago but i still have one character reference letter that needs to be submitted. i was wondering if anyone knew how long it should take from the interview for me to get my permit. i have heard that the process has been getting faster. is this the case?

thanks!

You must have something going for you and/or a lot of $$$ because getting that permit in NYC is a near religious experience.

Most common humans don't even come close. Congrats if you get it, you will be part of an elite member of NYC society that has the privilege.

I got mine in 3 days, but that was in the 70's. I am surprised they granted the final interview without your paperwork being complete.

Anyone can get a premises permit in NYC. It's the unrestricted carry that's difficult. Also, they just reduced the cost of the permit to around $130. It's not impossible to own a handgun, just a mess of paperwork.

You can never tell, it took nearly 6 months for me after my interview. I don't think the price has gone down, I know Bloomberg pushed for it because he was afraid of getting sued but the City Council wouldn't have it
