So i bought a 12 gauge shotgun in Nov. I already had a Mauser 98. Luckily they were both legal, because I almost got 7+1 for the remington, not 5+1.

1. Now I have to wait 90 days until Feb. to get a new gun. 90 whole days between every purchase! There is nothing worth getting... and I feel utterly under-armed!

2. I find out that the 5 round limit!!! applies to ALL firearms.... NOT just centerfire semi autos. ALL.

so... No henry lever action for me. I wanted it so bad. But they have to permenantly alter the mag tube to only hold 5 rounds. No thank you.

What the hell to get? The best thing in my mind that is legal would be a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle... but only 5 round magazines? That is ridiculous.

Should I just keep buying 5+1 pump shotguns as the limit allows me? I feel lilke every 90 days that will pass that I don't buy a gun is a waste of the little bit of freedom I have in this stupid city.

What would you all do? Besides move that is? That is not possible for me right now

Heres an idea: buy ammo...don't waste your money on guns you don't want just because you have to wait 90 days between purchases....

Or try a Mosin! Only 5 round magazines, accurate, can hunt with them, they make good project guns, cheap ammo but with commercial brass-cased match grade available.

You could get something in .22lr. That would circumvent the firearm's capacity.

.22 LR needs to be 5 rounds too. 5 round limit applies to ALL firearms. .22lr, 50 cal, lever action, bolt, pump, semi, whatever.

That means 5 round mag for a ruger 10/22 or for what I had my eye on- a henry lever .22- the mag tube needs to be crimped.

I am in the process of moving from NYC to Germany, so I'm losing even more rights. Go figure eh? But I'll always have this home in NYC so, I still want to up my collection for when SHTF!

What would you all do? Besides move that is. Already have a mauser 98 and a 12 gauge pump. More pumps?

I'd get a bolt action .308 with a heavy barrel, nice stock, and Zeiss scope. Maybe a twin to it in .223. Reloading equipment + supplies + a bunch of ammo.

Just sayin'. If you can only have five rounds in the gun, better make'em count.

Buy an nice ar 15 with a bunch of five round mags. Then go out of state and get some 30 round mags and just hide them away for when you need them.

Bus,

If a plant is in poor soil, it will wither and die. You are not a plant. You are mobile. If the soil is bad, move to where it's good. My grandfather left Austria when he was 14. In America, he found freedom that he would never have had in the old country. He never looked back and never spoke another word of German.

Go surplus and use 5rd stripper clips. My prayers with you I moved here(south of Buffalo) from Michigan 4 yrs ago. Like going from Kansas to Oz. Same basic rule,"pay no attention to the man behind the curtain". I couldn't imagine living in the city, bad enough all my taxes go there to fund that tumor.

When I actually worked for a living I pretty much had to go where ever the company sent me. NYC was on the list and the last time I saw the GW bridge in my rear view mirror that was the best site that you could see. Like others have said MOVE, around July 2011 Alabama Trooper's had a road block set up checking insurance and license. When the young officer checked mine I informed him that I did in fact have firearms in my truck and showed my permit. The back seat and floor board was covered in just about anything you wanted. The officer only looked at my Colt Walker and asked to see it, then he said if he had time he would love to just look at everything. Alabama has a lot of things that are wrong but too many good things.

Busstoned: why not move to Westchester County? Quick rail commute to Manhattan, and the laws aren't nearly as bad as NYC. No registration or permits for longarms, private party transfers still allowed. It's also cheaper to live there, too.
It's a pain in the butt to own handguns, but still better than the process for NYC.

Seriously. Move north. We'll welcome you in New Hampshire if you're a good, gun-loving conservative. You're better off moving, the tax savings alone justify moving away.

If you insist on staying, buy shotguns for defensive use. If you can only have 6 rounds, have six goddamn ridiculously powerful rounds.

Goodness, that seems to be the one of the dumbest legislations I've read. Like others stated, you could buy extra five round magazines and practice mag changes. That is if you're staying in the country and have to live in NYC.

So I can mark NYC off my places to visit list along with the entire state of California and Chicago.
