Most of my holsters are Uncle Mike's nylon holsters. Good quality for the money and they work for me. All of my carry gun are stainless. I'm considering a new Hi-Power (blued model with adjustable sights) and I want to avoid holster wear as much as possible. Even though this will be my "classiest gun", I think that another Uncle Mike's nylon holster may be the way to go. Right? Any suggestions for "low wear" leather holsters. The Hi-Power while not a "safe queen" will not be carried all that much.

Most leather holsters have the smooth side out, which leaves the rough side in against the gun. If you carry, shoot and make frequent practice draws with your gun, eventually you will get wear on the high points, and there is really no way 100% around it. You can have a holster made rough side out, but IMO this makes it look like crap, although for IWB carry it is very functional. A holster can also be lined, but some linings carry their own set of problems. Holsters made of horsehide have a smoother interior surface, and the material is very durable. With any leather holster, your best bet is to have it precisely fit the contours of the gun, which eliminates wear from moving about inside.

If you're worried about the gun acquiring honest wear marks, then keep it in the box, and store it in your safe.

Not worried and don't have a gun safe....now about a holster.....

The best I have used are pig-skin lined from El Paso Saddlery.

They not only fit the gun perfectly, but the hair pores in the pig-skin must give dirt & grit a place to hide out so they don't rub the finish away as much as smooth or rough-out cowhide.

Like you, I have several Uncle Mike's holsters. I have noticed after several years the plastic belt loop/slide deteriorates. I have had to replace two of mine so far.
I would go for leather and let the wear marks show.
