O.K. Decided to buy a Saiga. Couple of questions

Thanks for all the reply's, I think I'll order a Saiga in .223 on Monday if I can find one in stock. Ammo cost isn't a huge issue as I'm just about set to start reloading and since I already have an SKS I think I'll get something different. I'm not too worried about being out gunned, this is more of a plinker/fun gun then self or home defense. If I get attacked by something .223 can't handle I'll use the 45/70 Thanks guys.

Yeah, but he's ASKING for advice on which caliber to get. It's not like folks are jumping his case, calling him an idiot for not buying their favorite.
So, my .02 cent answer to your question....i also agree with the x39 votes.
I'm sort of a traditionalist and the AK is a x39 rifle, plus the availability of parts and accessories, price of ammo, heavier round, and basically it's MY favorite so you're an idiot if you don't get it !!!
