I can agree with one part of his statement. "This is not normal" and it isn't, despite the media rhetoric. It's funny, that with every single shooting, this country is further and further divided. Bodies weren't cold yet when the left was screaming Conservative! Christian! Right wing gun nut!
While at the same time, the right started off with Identifies as female, must be queer, must be a liberal! Registered as UAF, that's a fringe British Marxist poltical party, he's a socialist! (Never once giving thought that UAF might be Unaffiliated). Along with cries of This happened at a bank and spread to the clinic, it wasn't the target! I even read one right wing editorial that claimed because he had a dismissed charge of domestic violence and another for being a peeping Tom, as well as animal abuse, he MUST be a liberal.
Turns out, neither side is really correct, but neither side is going to budge or amend their position.
So, while the shooting may not be normal, the overall reaction remains the same, and that has become the norm. Blame religion, blame politics, blame ideology.
Despite "let no crisis go to waste" being a mantra of the left, the right is just as guilty. At least in this case.
Looking to place blame, the new normal.
