So, while the shooting may not be normal, the overall reaction remains the same, and that has become the norm. Blame religion, blame politics, blame ideology.

Despite "let no crisis go to waste" being a mantra of the left, the right is just as guilty. At least in this case.

There were two other shootings during that limited amount of time:

While I don't agree with B.O.'s solutions, along with most of the other proposed liberal solutions, at least they are searching for a solution, while many conservatives proclaim that shootings like this are to be expected and accepted, if we want to preserve our 2nd Amendment rights, so no solution is needed. IOWs, shootings like this are a normal part of life, so get over it already. Sorry, I don't agree with that either.

I don't know that we should accept anything but when you look at the alternatives someone innocent is going to loose their liberty in the name of security. This is an ultimate recipe for tyranny.
Not trying to play down an obvious tragedy but focusing on spectacular attacks and loss of life when crime, accidents, negligence take many times the toll is not an answer to any of our problems.
Consider how many Americans lost their lives during the time of the PP attack, I suspect there were many.

You and a majority will really need to make a conscious decision to abandon your claim to what for many is a sacred right. Then you will have the dissenters to deal with and probably a bad outcome all around.
Even if what many on both sides say would be the only way to achieve safety from guns we still have all the secondary re purposed weapons.
You would also have to make confiscation universal world wide and be subordinate to the UN or some other world org or else guns would still flow through the black market. But then you'd have to deal with those careless or crooked officials in charge of keeping order.
