Off-Duty Detroit Cop Walks Out of Pharmacy, Finds Wife Shot Dead in Parking Lot

Thursday, December 27, 2007

DETROIT — The wife of an off-duty Detroit police sergeant has been shot to death outside a pharmacy.

Police spokesman James Tate says 47-year-old Rose Cobb had been shot at least once in the head. She was dead at the scene.

Tate says her husband was inside the east side CVS about 9 p.m. Wednesday when shots were heard.

Cobb had been shot through the vehicle's window and nothing appeared to be taken. The shooter is believed to have left on foot.

Tate says the motive for the slaying is under investigation after police earlier reported it as an apparent carjacking.

Tate says people were in the parking lot at the time of the shooting, but may have driven away in fear for their own safety.

Sad story!

IMO, Detroit is a total Zoo!

Worked and lived near the city back in the mid '80s and had several bad experiences!

....the place is a classic example of a failed society....

corruption, crime, poverty, failed schools, racial problems.... you name the problem, they've got it.

What's changed since then.... they added gambling!

Apparently that hasn't "saved" the city as promised.

my prayers will be sent out to the family of Rose Cobb. What a lowlife I hope they catch the shooter.

Very sad, very tragic.

But I'm wondering why she wasn't armed herself.

I've mentioned a couple of time that as an experiment I once went out rigged up with three guns as an experiment and "just because I could."

Maybe I ought to start doing that routinely "just because I should."

A sad story. You are so right SSN VET, the City of Detroit is a shining example of the complete failure of Johnson's "Great Society". The city government is plaqued by nepotism and corruption.

My wife gets peeved when I push her to go in for those grocery stops after dark. I keep insisting so she comes in with me. I just don't feel good about leaving her in the car. The other thing...she WILL NOT go get her ccw certificate. Until she does...she goes in.

Mark.
