Detroit is by far the worst city I have ever been to. Went there to visit my Aunt about 10 years ago.
No more than 30 minutes there and were being harrassed on the highway by some hippy biker. We get to her house and the house below her's (duplex) has the door kicked open and the inside is ransacked. Writing on the door says something like "this is what happens when you don't pay rent".
The neighbors to the side deal crack and one night they have an argument at like 2 in the morning. The argument ends in gunfire but no one is hurt. Turns out one guy got mad and unloaded his handgun in the air.
I have to walk through the hood to my Aunt's business everyday and get stared down since I'm clearly an outsider. Luckly I never got beat down since I was young and foolish back then and stared back.
There was also a blood donor place next to my Aunt's business. The crackheads would line up, give blood, then exit the front door to the crack dealer who's waiting in his pimp ride selling $20 rocks.
My cousin who was fortunate enough to live on the better side of town stated how lucky he was being Asian to live where he did because they didn't like minorities there, there was no way a black person would ever move into that neighborhood. I was only there for a week.
About a week after I left one of the workers at my Aunt business was stabbed 9 times, luckily she lived.
